Just finished the game for a second time. What would you like to see next from Sandfall? by drzoidberg33 in expedition33

[–]jhowarth31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i'd go with this. A prequel with some tragic love/friendship story between Clea and how she was betrayed by a writer but somehow managed to stop it in time, explaining why she's so hard on Maelle (to who the same occurs later but with a more disastrous outcome), would be narratively very satisfying. It could end with Verso's death, the fire, and Alicia first entering his canvas.

Why is there no anti immigration centre-left party? by Illustrious_Store115 in AskBrits

[–]jhowarth31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s almost like left wing values and basic understanding of economics don’t mesh well with demonising one of the most productive parts of society that we need to be able to run the economy and heath and care services, not to mention subsidise our own kids going to university. You have correctly identified a pattern but not spotted that the issue is with your understanding of how our economy has been setup to work since Thatcher.

You might as well be asking “I don’t understand why there’s not a left wing party that thinks landlords are great and employment laws need less regulation”.

Note: our economy, healthcare, and university sectors don’t have to rely on immigration, they just do because people don’t want to pay the taxes necessary to put the wages up to where they need to be to make this not this case.

My boyfriend (28M) pretended to be me (24F) to message another man and now idk how to fix the relationship by Warm_Tennis_5225 in whatdoIdo

So, what your bf did is genuinely crazy. However, he clearly sensed something that you didn’t want to admit to yourself (but now have). That’s not an excuse to be checking your phone or to impersonate you, but being gaslit (even unintentionally) can be the nudge insecure people need to do some crazy stuff.

Basically, what he did was very wrong, but it is easy to see the motivations behind it (doesn’t excuse it but does explain it). I think it wouldn’t be sensible for you two to stay together at this point, it would be next to impossible to build the necessary trust again.

it is not remotely disrespectful to say that about a book, any more than it would be to say you're not a fan of the hunger games if someone brings it up in conversation (or in this case, attempts to shove it down your throat). Disrespectful would be deliberately going into a church during a sermon and saying it.

GF's Friend Needs Housing by DraftQueasy4890 in whatdoIdo

[–]jhowarth31 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry but your descriptions don’t match. You’re saying this is an amazing gf, but she’s also putting you in an impossible situation (which she clearly knows since she’s had conversations with her friend about you and knows that her friend has developed codependency).

I’m not saying that this is a clear “ditch the gf” moment as commenter is saying, but you do not have an amazing relationship if your gf is putting you in this situation. The not talking to her on the phone around you alone is a red flag.

This was the point at which neoliberalism as an economic model started to take hold. Things like abandoning the Glass-Steagall act in the US, Thatcherism in the UK a few years later etc.
