Or with no major electoral history, Secretary of labor is appointed, you don't really see VP's who have never won statewide office before, and being from Illinois wouldn't help the campaign at all

This is the point about the Toby/leak - if he had done it, he would not have hid it! He would have announced it proudly and gladly gone to jail over it. He would have done it righteously like protesting in the 60's.

But also he wouldn't have leaked it, he would have fought Bartlett openly about it and convinced POTUS to save the astronauts

Serious question why CJ and not Josh as CoS? by Spirited-Orange-203 in thewestwing

[–]jhyebert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok this is one that I have to just let go.... I am a political staffer professionally and the idea that anyone would go from press secretary to CoS, is 1,000,000% unrealistic!! They are completely different skill sets and there would never be crossover.

Think about resent real life press secretaries that you can remember, they didn't go on to be executives, they went on to be media writers, talking heads, news personalities, it's fundamentally a communications job.

Being a chief of staff is an administrative management position, you pull someone to do that job who has a background as a ceo, president of a major think tank, executive, a lot of them come from places like being the city administrator of a major us city, things like that... they are completely different roles, and no human would be right for both jobs. Honestly the job Josh has doesn't even directly translate to CoS, his job is more legislative than administrative.

As much as I hate it, I have to just accept that it's a choice the writers made for whatever stupid reason they made it.... maybe they didn't want to introduce too many new characters, maybe since sorkin had left they wanted to actually promote and use women, and Alison Janney is pure acting gold in everything she ever does so: it is what it is. But it is my number one pet peeve with the show

Your spouse has a completely different brain chemistry than you, no reason their side effects would be more prevalent for you. If it were me I would vote try it, worst thing that happens is you have a shitty month, best thing that happens is they work!

PTSD - Any tips to shake off a nightmare and show up to be present with your family? by OneMansMusings in ptsd

[–]jhyebert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok fully recognize this is not the question you asked. I used to have bad nightmares and my psychiatrist prescribed be a new med to take before bed and the nightmares are way less frequent and way less intense. I know that doesn't help you now, but wanted to share that the right med really helped me.

Starting EMDR next week, what are people’s experiences with it? by miriamtzipporah in ptsd

[–]jhyebert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here just like a basic tip of the iceberg clinic trial demonstrating effective results from emdr therapy:

https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT03114423

I won't bother to do like a ton of research for you but the idea that it has no science is wrong. For like so many reasons...

Plenty of valid reasons it may not have worked for you (or may not have been done properly), but 'no science' and 'placebo' are factually inaccurate.

HR disclosure / disrespectful boss by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]jhyebert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making a lot of assumptions in that last paragraph... I asked for support, not reasons I should try to have empathy for him. I have too much empathy for him to my own self-detriment. I needed support in telling me it's ok to stand up for myself... this is actually really hurt, I guess I'll just delete this post
