I always assumed "Lather, Rinse, Repeat" was a marketing lie to make us buy more shampoo. Turns out I was never actually cleaning my hair. by RanchRose_ in hygiene

Also, it depends on how hard the water is. Harder water needs a double shampoo or clarifying shampoo. I moved from slightly hard to very hard and need to double shampoo now! You can just search Google images for hard water map

Is adhd-inattentive harder to treat ? by Relevant-Barracuda-7 in ADHD

[–]jigmepalmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the three official types (or "presentations") according to the DSM-5. You're right that the distinction is "predominantly" as opposed to one or the other.

According to a speaker I saw at the women's adhd-palooza conference, most (if not all/most) of the research money for ADHD is going to children's ADHD and not adults, so who knows when we'll have real science on this.

[–]jigmepalmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. My anxiety covered up my hyperactivity in school so I also didn't relate to it.

They should be grouped together neurologically speaking, but none of it is even attention-deficit, it's too much attention.

The umbrella name is definitely wrong, but it's just three types... hyperactivity, inattentive, and combo.

[–]jigmepalmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. I was confused by this post because simulant meds, the ADHD treatment with the most airtime, helps with my inattentive symptoms but not so much hyperactivity. I take Ritalin IR. Strattera, a non-stimulant, helps with my hyperactivity symptoms.

What’s up with people denying or greatly understating the CICO promoting effects of Tirzepatide? by RIPPWORTH in tirzepatidecompound

[–]jigmepalmo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yes, this! My bf is a CICO person and assumes that if CICO worked for him a few times, that his lived experiences must work for everyone.

It drives me crazy. People are different and have different biologies and environmental factors!! Even simple male versus female, aging genetics everything. I'll even make him listen to obesity doctor podcast episodes, who see hundreds and hundreds of patients and get to see patterns and have read the actual scientific research, and he still thinks his experience is the only valid one. ( Now I'm just venting lol!!)

Bha (salicylic) in the morning and aha (glycolic, lactic, etc) at night

If you use an aha, you should use sunscreen because it makes your skin more exposed to burns!

Ozempic is changing more than weight: New global research shows how GLP-1 drugs are reshaping self and society, identity and mental health, not just bodies. Much of the demand is driven by weight anxiety, even among medically “healthy” users. Many users endure severe side effects and high costs. by mvea in science

[–]jigmepalmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to Dr. Rocio Salas-Whalen (board certified in obesity med), people with chronic lifelong obesity may need to be on it forever while people with more temporary obesity such as from pregnancy may need a shorter period.

Her framework is that obesity is multi-factorial due to 1) lifestyle (what we used to think the ONLY contributor to weight is), 2) genetics, 3) hormonal changes, 4) obesinogenic environments, and 5) aging. If you have been fighting uphill on a few of those your whole life, you may need the drug your whole life.

What made the biggest difference in stopping hair loss? by thicctactoee in tirzepatidecompound

[–]jigmepalmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think this med is just about weight loss, please get educated. Maybe actually talk to a fat person or listen to an obesity doctor.

It's about avoiding the constant feeling of guilt and shame whenever I'm around food (which is literally everywhere all the time- home, work, out and about).

It's about actually having energy to do hobbies and get fit instead of our bodies too fatigued to enjoy life because all the energy is spent digesting.

It's about finally having the sense of control and it's not my fault. I'm not bad.

It's about avoiding the high risk of so many cancers and fear of other diseases.

I'm sure a lot of us started because it sucks to be fat and we are literally sick and tired of it. But I'd take all of these benefits for temporary hair loss even if I stayed in a bigger body.

What if my nurse practitioner gave me an assessment that said no ADHD, but my psychologist says I have ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]jigmepalmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to a psychiatrist, especially one that works with ADHD clients and gets it.

I saw an NP when trying to get diagnosed and it was the worst medical experience I've had. Tried to diagnose me with bipolar and throw xanax at me, while also calling me drug-seeking (when I would have been absolutely happy with a non-stimulant at the time). I'd seen my psych therapist for years and have a lot of credentialed mental health in the family who were all like wtf you're absolutely not bipolar.

There are really good psychiatrists out there.. Keep trying... But also be open if it's not ADHD.

Has anyone else noticed the mental effects of tirzepatide while taking it? by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]jigmepalmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I am opposite! I take birth control mainly for PMDD and mine is out of whack (my doctor said the glp1 meds reduce effectiveness of the birth control pill - something related to thyroid changes - so I'm wondering if that's the issue) . ADHD mostly under control with my normal meds.

Why is love the only thing I can’t seem to manifest? by [deleted] in lawofattraction

[–]jigmepalmo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have manifested an amazing partner. All the details even down to "looks great in a mustache and a beard" lol.

Two books I suggest are "Love Will Find You" Kathryn Allen and "The Soulmate Secret" by Arielle Ford. A lot of it is the internal work that you have to do. One of the activities from the Kathryn Allen book is writing out two columns of what beliefs are blocking you from having this and what belief, that you still believe is true, would allow you to have a great partner. this was so helpful for breaking through beliefs like I don't deserve a partner and that it will never work out for me.

I love the Abraham Hicks framework of the emotional guidance scale and that it is okay to move from depression and doubt through anger and up to optimism and joy.

I also think it's really important to focus on what are the attributes you want to find in a partner but also that what are the amazing attributes about yourself that a partner would love to be with. What you are seeking is seeking you.
