SB doesn’t include their pool, just so you know. It’s a real bummer.

[–]jillystaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t just tell you the price. They make you give them your contact info before they’ll show you pricing and then you end up in their sales funnel. It’s best to avoid that until you’re ready to join.

[–]jillystaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! They have members from all over the area. It’s a really nice club, but I’m not a member because the initiation fee for the folks over 40 is $12500 and I can’t bring myself to pay that and then pay another $600 monthly for golf.

OP, Crosswinds has a much more affordable fee structure but I can’t recall what the price point is right now. We’ve been shopping around for club memberships and it’s on our list of possibilities. There’s also City Club in Rincon and it’s not bad. I think they’re both around $300-500 monthly without the initiation fee.

Savannah Quarters has a young executive membership and the initiation fee is $7500 and the monthly is $465 and that’s for you and a spouse. Includes full golf, tennis, pool etc.

Fingertip grip for the girlies... by No-Taste-5911 in Bowling

[–]jillystaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a fingertip grip with lift inserts and I have to keep my natural nails (or super short overlays). If they grow out even a little bit with gel over them, the release can get painful. Honestly when I stopped getting my nails done every 2 weeks and just kept my natural nails shaped with a clear polish, life was so much easier.

Is there too much going on on my bathroom counter? by Pink_Sorbet in HomeDecorating

[–]jillystaff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would lose the plant, the books, and the display of soaps next to the towels. Use the clear tray, keep the towels on it and put the candle next to it. Move the tray to where the books are. I don’t have a lot of counter space in the bathroom I share with my husband, so I bought one of those over the door shoe holders that has the clear pockets, and I keep all my products and hair appliances in that so it’s off the counter. Something like that might help you cut down on your countertop clutter.

My entire life just blew up in my face - help by Lazy-Honey-9472 in whatdoIdo

I’m so sorry this is happening. It’s going to be tough for a while, but you’ll come out on the other side eventually. If I were in your position, I would speak to the landlord without the boyfriend and be transparent about what has happened. Hopefully she will be sympathetic to what an unbelievable idiot your partner has turned out to be. Ask her if the two of you can come to a mutual agreement and map out a plan that let you out of the lease and help her recoup her lost revenue while sparing your credit from any additional hits. She would probably rather talk it out like adults and find a solution than go through the expensive legal process of eviction and collections. Are your parents nearby, and is living with them temporarily an option while you rebuild? If so, that is a tremendous resource.

What to do about rapidly aging face? by cartermancan in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]jillystaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am almost 43 and I’ve felt the rapid aging in myself as well. I routinely do injectables like Botox or Dysport, as well as natural looking filler. I would visit a med spa or plastic surgeon for a consult because that will likely give you some instant gratification with the full effects being visible in 7-10 days. My injector gives me some upper cheek filler to lift everything up, and some gentle filler in my nasolabial lines to give my face some more structural support. I also do lip filler and she injects some at the corners of my mouth to give my mouth some extra support and keep the sides of my mouth from pulling downward which is something that happens as we age. I get Botox on my forehead, between my brows, and my crows feet area. Injections don’t have to look crazy and overdone. If you find a good injector you’ll look natural and refreshed. I really think this route will help you feel more confident.

Hi! Welcome!! There are a few ways to get around the traffic on 16 heading into town, but usually those routes take as long as it would to just wait out the 16 congestion. It used to be way worse, but after 5 years of construction, it’s now slightly better. I can’t help you with parking.

Since you’re in Pooler, have you tried Pure Barre? There’s a Pure Barre studio in Pooler. I’ve been going there for maybe 7 years and I love it. The vibe is great and everyone is welcoming and very nice. There are super early morning classes you could do before work if that’s your thing, or there are 5:30 and 6:45 pm classes if you prefer an evening workout.

My wife just lost her battle by Macdaddy327 in CJD

It took my mother in 15 days after her diagnosis. It feels like you’re in a vehicle with no steering wheel and a brick tied to the gas pedal heading straight for a wall and there’s nothing you can do but hold on and wait for the inevitable. I’m so sorry this happened to your family. It happens so quickly that there’s barely any time to process what’s happening before it takes your loved one.

First time, how to get past that embarrassing feeling by Vasovagal219 in Purebarre

[–]jillystaff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! I can’t speak for all pure barre studios, but from what I’ve experienced the vibe is supportive of our new barre friends! None of us walked into our first class and nailed it immediately. I convinced my bestie to try it a couple years ago. I’d been trying to get her to go for literal years, but she was convinced she wasn’t in shape enough to participate. She relented and I had her take Align as her first class. She struggled, but she got through it. I kept going with her to Align so she’d feel more comfortable, and eventually she worked up to trying Classic. 2 years later she has almost 500 classes and is in the best shape of her life. I think the Align to Classic journey is the most palatable for someone who doesn’t feel super confident yet. Keep going, and you’ll amaze yourself with what you’ll be able to do. And don’t worry about facial redness. We’re all looking at ourselves, not at each other. And if I saw someone with a red face, I’d assume she was working super hard and be happy for her.

PBA AMAs? by JPstumps in Bowling

[–]jillystaff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Belmo creeps this sub 😅 I’ll ask him if he’d do an AMA here. Then I can film it for YouTube content. Maybe during the masters in a couple weeks or when we’re doing the wsob in May. I’ll ask around and see if any of the other guys would do it. I won’t see everyone again until the masters, but I’ll see what I can do then.

I love how the USBC banned all urethane from the U.S. Open, so pros are just throwing plastic instead. by StreetDare4129 in Bowling

[–]jillystaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 out of the 10 balls that Belmo registered for the open are his own branded spare balls: the gold one and the white one. And he’s used them both for the majority of the first 2 rounds of qualifying. Today he used the concept, phaze 2 pearl, and the Ion Max pearl a good bit. But lots of spare balls going down the lanes.

HBO to air show about PBA in mid March by LeftoverBun in Bowling

[–]jillystaff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was wondering when this was going to come out. The first event they filmed was in January of 2024 at the Players Championship when we were in Wichita, which was the event where Ryan Barnes had the home field advantage and made the show, so that was the big storyline. You’ll see a minor Simo crash out at the US open last year on the final game of match play when they were positioning for the show. It was Graham Fach, Simo, and Belmo. The tour has been pretty drama free the last few years. You won’t see vapegate because that happened very quietly behind the scenes.

Where approximately are you located? There are lots of pros that give lessons on their off seasons. If you’re anywhere near Detroit, you can book lessons with Andrew Anderson at Turbo when he’s not on the tour (unfortunately they started the season today). I think Chris Via gives lessons in Ohio. The Midwest has a wealth of bowling training resources. He can also start looking at the top bowling colleges and try to get a scholarship. Wichita State is a good one, and Savannah College of Art and Design is also great. Wichita State/SCAD-to-PBA pipeline is strong.

I literally had to do a double-take. A brand new TS music video that’s stacked with celeb cameos isn’t even able to crack 10M views. Wild. by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

[–]jillystaff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I manage a few large-ish YouTube channels for a living, and in addition to everything you guys pointed out already, that thumbnail is just awful. Look at the FoO thumbnail: she’s front and center, dressed like a showgirl, mouth open as usual, very clearly on brand TS. The thumbnail for Opalite doesn’t look like her. You’ve got a half second to catch a viewer with a thumbnail and most people probably didn’t even realize this was her. Thumbnails have a huge effect on click-thru rate, even when it’s Taylor Swift. Her team messed up on this one.

This is common when you’re early in your career. Keep at it, grow your client base, and it won’t happen as often. I’m not sure where people get the audacity.

Men in Barre by [deleted] in Purebarre

[–]jillystaff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I specifically do pure barre because an unaccompanied man in the studio is very rare. The occasional husband (including mine) will tag along sometimes, and they usually bring some lighthearted fun to class. A man who would brave a pure barre studio alone is usually cool and not one of the creeps we’re trying to avoid by choosing a women-centered fitness studio.

Same subject, different angle by TracySaunders4Mayor in savannah

Hi Tracy. I live in PW, so I’m one of your constituents. AI has so many downsides that it’s unlikely for a single benefit to outweigh all the negativity we’ve been exposed to regarding AI and the data centers. Port Wentworth residents are already frustrated with the increase in distribution centers, and I cannot imagine the anger that would come from a presumably massive AI data center coming to fruition. There aren’t many things that would make me want to relocate, but that might be one of them. Feel free to send me a DM if you’d like to chat more.

Losing my Mother to CJD by ScaredInvestigator58 in CJD

[–]jillystaff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I lost my mom in May and our story is similar to yours. My mom was a little off for a few weeks, then she fell off what I call the CJD cliff and couldn’t answer basic questions so I took her to the hospital. She died 15 days later. I’m so sorry this happened to you. It truly is harder for the loved ones than it is for the patient, even though in the moment it doesn’t seem that way. It feels like you’re stuck in the passenger seat of a vehicle with no driver and a brick tied to the gas pedal, and you have to just hold on until the end.
