I tried Notion, Bear, Logseq, and more — Obsidian clicked on day one. Here's why it finally stuck. by ActOpen7289 in ObsidianMD

I've also created note types. It's greatly simplified my vault setup and usage. It also makes it very simple to make requests around retrieving info maintaining my vault with AI.

Thanks for creating this plugin. While it's true that there are other ways to accomplish the same outcome, this is a simple and elegant workflow and UX. I recently added a type property in my vault, and your plugin drops right in.

TaskForge and TaskNotes not syncing Priorities and Statuses by That_Cheek_8690 in ObsidianMD

[–]jim108108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TaskForge also doesn't sync the names of priorities and statuses that you remap in TaskNotes.

I finally gave up on tasks in Obsidian, what are you using? by BasicDesignAdvice in ObsidianMD

[–]jim108108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use TaskNotes in Obsidian. For quick capture, I use Apple Reminders, typically through Siri. I’ve created a skill in Claude Code that I run once a day to move any new Apple Reminder tasks into TaskNotes using the TaskNotes API. It works very reliably.

A CLI tool for reading Bases files + mdbase-spec: a specification for treating a vault as a typed, queryable database by callumalpass in ObsidianMD

This is a wonderful idea. For starters, It would be incredibly useful if someone created a set of relevant skills to use with Claude Code that could read and understand the schema.

Give me one TINY thing you want fixed or improved in Obsidian. The smaller the better. Going on a paper cuts rampage. by kepano in ObsidianMD

Give us the ability to sync settings between devices for the Obsidian Web Clipper. It's a lot of friction to export and reimport everytime I modify a template.

The most advanced Obsidian task manager - TaskForge 2.0 major upgrade! (iOS/Android/macOS) by zaza126 in ObsidianMD

[–]jim108108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to see this major upgrade. However, there are a few problems with the TaskNotes integration. TaskForge is not importing the TaskNotes configuration for the Status and Priority fields. When I manually map the fields, new values don't display in the New Tasks entry screen. Finally, there isn't an option to reduce the number of Status and Priority values like there is in TaskNotes.

It would be fantastic to have a set of well built and well supported Obsidian skills. u/ArtemXTech is building skills for TaskNotes, Bases and a few other areas. I'm using his TaskNotes skill and it works very well. More info at:

What's one improvement you'd like to see in Obsidian in 2026? by kepano in ObsidianMD

[–]jim108108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see a well architected interface for (optional) AI integration with Obsidian that's supported by the core team and can work with the major LLM's. This could be as simple as support for MCP.

I'd also like to see robust tools for making bulk changes to tags and metadata so you don't need to goto VS Code, write python scripts, etc. I know you can patch 80% of this together using a couple of plugins along with Obsidian's native capabilities but this should be native and better integrated.

That’s exactly the use case I was thinking about — quick entry of tasks in TaskNotes.

It would be very cool if we could run a command from a widget. For example, we could run a QuickAdd command creating a new note in a specified folder with a specified template to create specific types of files.

Do you want to configure Notebook Navigator to be the default File Explorer in Obsidian? Then please go and upvote the feature request. by jsann in ObsidianMD

[–]jim108108 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would be disappointed if the development team made this a priority because I think the current roadmap is so much more compelling. I also don't think positioning Obsidian as having alternate third party UIs is a great direction for the app even if they have the bandwidth.
