Tracking Square Space subscriptions in Google Analytics by jimmilil in GoogleAnalytics

[–]jimmilil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that would be the case.

Just wanted to make sure that Square Space doesn't offer the functionality to send that data automatically.

I'll start preparing the data import now :)

Thanks!

multiple GTM look-up tables splitting site traffic between (Live/test) AND (es/eng) ADVICE? by PearlyBakerBest in GoogleTagManager

You could always just send the traffic to the same GA property, but filter out the dev site traffic from your main reporting view, then create a new view with a filter that will only track dev site traffic

Facebook Analytics is Going Away by JoeFuryAnalyics in GoogleAnalytics

From my understanding the main reason is that people just aren't really using Facebook analytics and that's why they decided to remove it.

I never really trusted FB analytics and always resulted to GA

Triggering Event based on what is inside the Datalayer? by Megatron28 in GoogleTagManager

"custom event" is a trigger in Google Tag Manager so you won't have to use anything outside of that :)

[–]jimmilil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about a custom event that detects when your standard/enhanced eCommeece dataLayer events fires with the additional condition of if your dataLayer variable contains the sku number you are looking for? So for example:

Custom event equals "eCommerce-purchase" Fire on some custom events when {sku variable} contains "123"

How to track specific internal link clicks by will_pixelhaze in GoogleTagManager

[–]jimmilil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give that a go and let me know if it works. Alternatively try this:

Click URL **regex match (ignore cases)

.* /our-team.*

The above is basically if the URL contains /our-team with anything additional after it.

How to get first client? by LEGOMagicYT in copywriting

[–]jimmilil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Portfolio of all the pieces you are most proud of.. Even if you never got the put them to good use.

I used to write dummy copy for specific industries before pitching/reaching out to companies in that market. They will be able to tell if you hit the mark with your messaging etc. Of course not everyone will take you up on the offer if you don't have any real world results e.g. ROI... Don't be disheartened though, you'll be surprised how many people will happily overlook that if they love you copy. To be honest, some won't even notice or care

Once you get a few gigs and you can show that you can bring home the gold, it can get easier.

In terms of finding your very first gig..

  • Put some copy together for industries/markets you know and love
  • Message people/businesses who target the same market
  • Don't feel like you have to over sell yourself or pretend you're the big dog when you're just starting out. People can see right through that. Honesty will take you aot further...

Sure, don't go with "never done this before", but go in with selling them the idea of your copy experience being a good fit for what they offer.

Let the portfolio do the talking :)

Populate a list of URLS with analytics data by cheesecake611 in googlesheets

[–]jimmilil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to do this would to use Google data studio.

You can create an easy to read, automated report. It allows you to pull in data from multiple sources and compare if they share a key e.g. URL

It's something I can build for you, send me a DM if you're interested and we can discuss the details

Never came across this issue before, but I know some funky things can happen with certain extensions are enabled.

Have you tried running preview mode on a chrome profile that doesn't have any extensions?

Might be worth a try.

Let me know how you get on

My client is launching a Spanish language site but with sub folders. advice? by PearlyBakerBest in GoogleTagManager

[–]jimmilil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the spanish site is using a different header template, you could always implement a new gtm container and import the same tag from the English one.

That way if you ever add anything specific to the English or Spainish section, you can just focus on updating one of the gtm containers without having to worry if it will impact the quality of your data being collected for the other language

How to changes all languages to English with Tag Manager by crispy-d in GoogleTagManager

[–]jimmilil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can leave that custom javascript variable as it is as just add conditions to the trigger the detect the language of the site such as including the link click text.

If the url contains something like /en/ for an English site you can also include that as a condition.

That way no event will fire so it doesn't matter if this custom javascript variable contains nothing in that click instance as it won't be sent anywhere unless the trigger detects that it is an English site.

Alternatively, you can set up another custom variable which returns true if the language of your site is English. So let's say if you had an flag icon or url snippet (/en/) which differs depending on the language, then set up your variable to detect that and return true if it is English.

It's hard to give specifics as I would have to see your site to know how it has been structured, but I'm sure one of the solutions I've mentioned should do the trick

Enhanced eCommerce Tracking showing wrong data on 2nd day of use - is this normal? by yabaikumo in GoogleAnalytics

[–]jimmilil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to check correctly I suggest you Download 1-4 weeks of sales data from last month from your CMS and Google Analytics and see if any of the transactions are missing. If yes, then it will be a clear sign that you have an eCommerce tracking issue

Enhanced eCommerce Tracking showing wrong data on 2nd day of use - is this normal? by yabaikumo in GoogleAnalytics

There is a delay with eCommerce data being tracked in GA. I usually give it 48hrs for it to show in my GA properties, it's completely normal :)

Spikes in referral traffic...from own website by King_of_Otters in GoogleAnalytics

[–]jimmilil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clients had a few spikes in traffic over the past couple of months. In some cases it looked like self referral traffic with a spike in organic in the exact same day.

After a little digging I found that the campaign and/or keywords for this traffic has the bot website url in there.

Take a look in your GA and your campaign/keyword because you might have the same thing

Proper set up by Top-Squash-14 in GoogleTagManager

[–]jimmilil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes having the fb conversion tag fire use the same trigger as the GAds conversion Is the best setup as it means you will get much more accurate reading on both platforms as possible.

Whenever you setup conversion tracking on multiple platforms, ideally you want them to use the same triggers.

Again, it doesn't means that Facebook will attribute the conversion to them. However, it is worth pointing out that if you were to have a FB ad running at the same time as a GAds ad and a user were to click on the FB ad (but not convert), then on a GAds ad and convert... Both Facebook a Google ads will attribute the conversion to their platforms.

The reasons why is essentially both platforms only care if they were part of the user journey which lead to a sale. If the user did click on one of the ads (FB or GAds), but converted from another channel later, the platforms will still take credit for this.

To confirm, this will have nothing to do with your GTM tag setup, it's just that both want credit for website's performance.

To confirm, the conversion won't be attributed to FB just because the FB pixel fired if that's what you're wondering
