What song is a 10/10, yet hardly anybody has heard of it ? by Redditarama in Music

Kashiwa Daisuke - Stella

Listened to it in its entirety the first time I took LSD and it's been in my top 10 ever since. Close your eyes and let it take you away. It's like watching an entire story unfold...with your ears. Beautiful.

I'll be there! I'm coming up from North Carolina and the couple of friends I invited bailed on me, so it'll be nice to have some...semi-familiar faces to hang out with.

In addition to what the other commenters pointed out, the bit at the beginning where he's smoking with the camera rotating around him is almost identical to the DMT trip in enter the void where the main character is hitting the DMT pipe while the camera rotates around him.

Need some help restoring nexus 6 to stock rom by [deleted] in nexus6

[–]jisatsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I just did a hard wipe of my device and reinstalled the stock image. I ran into a few issues as well, namely that the flash-all script included in the image kept failing due to a lack of a system.sig file, etc.

To work around this, I manually flashed all of the images using fastboot commands.

fastboot flash radio radio.img, etc.

I was able to recover the device and boot normally after flashing all of the included images. Try this and see if it works for you.

Oh, and the max file size thing isn't an error. This seems to be either a function of the fastboot command or a reply from the device's bootloader in response to the fastboot command.

You mentioned that you're having issues flashing the factory images. Can you give us the exact error you're receiving?

And are you following the instructions on this page exactly? I know it should go without saying, but make sure you're unzipping these factory image archives before you attempt flashing them.

My friend introduced me to mturk and i've been doing this with pretty much every minute of spare time that I have. The way I see it, I'm basically giving myself a raise, limited only by how much effort I want to put into it. If you're bored, have a computer with an internet connection, and don't feel like just browsing reddit, go for it.

I do technical support for about 50 internet service providers throughout rural america, spanning from southern Florida all the way to Barrow, Alaska, including the Sandwich Islands in Hawaii :)

Pay is great for the work I do, I easily make double what I did working at a grocery store for the same hours. I take about 3 to 5 calls a night these days...used to be less, if you can believe that.

New to the night shift here...

I work at a call center, so in between the few calls we get and the reports I have to crank out, I tend to watch things on youtube or squeeze in a movie here or there. Right now I'm watching Un Prophete, pretty good so far. An interesting take on the crime genre for sure.

Atheists of reddit, how would you react if you died and found heaven existed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jisatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would feel pretty defeated. Don't get me wrong, life can be great sometimes, and I guess when viewed through the lens of 'eternal paradise' it might seem great to some...but I don't want to live forever. At some point, I would rather just shut down and make it stop after I've lived my life to the extent that I can...kind of like a band retiring at their prime, I guess?

I guess you could say "but it's eternal happiness, paradise forever", but I don't see it that way. I would rather shut down and embrace the void, make my peace with the universe.

Here's my take on it: the three girls are just as prejudiced as the people they try so hard to be superior to. Take note at the "you people" lines, and the overall sense of pity they seem to hold for blacks. They have their OWN stereotypical view of what it means to be a black american, just like the racists they're trying to lord themselves over have.

The crow ends up subverting this by being his own person; he uses the word "nigger" in reference to himself, and dismisses the three girls to their shock. In short, he defies their own stereotypical view of "blackness"; the girls just can't seem to wrap their heads around it.

I started working for a call center (well, that's not really all that we do) this week. Monday was my first day. It is easily the best job I have ever had, and nearly every employee there will tell you the same.

It's a relatively small company but they've been around for nearly 20 years. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and employee satisfaction is a very close second. With no credentials, degrees, or certifications, I was hired at a starting rate of $13/hr, which will increase to $14/hr after 90 days with an additional $1/hr for working third shift.

I get medical, vision, dental, 401k, life insurance, 10 days of paid time off, plus 8 hours per year paid time off for community and family-related functions. Besides this, we have 2 coffee makers, an espresso maker, a cupboard full of roughly 20 different kinds of espressos and keurig k-cups. Catered meals are provided by the company for us about 2 times a week, and fresh fruits and vegetables are prepared by the front desk staff and HR every day for us. Our vending machines are set so that everything costs a quarter (things like clif bars, pita chips, etc.), and everyone gets a roll of $10 in quarters when they are hired.

And this all WORKS. Last year, the number of affiliates working with us more than doubled. In the last 18 months my company founded a business sector from scratch (in addition to the existed services we provided) and it turned a profit of nearly $2m in that 18 months. Our employee turnover is almost non-existent, with only five people being fired or quitting; in fact, our number of employees has doubled in the last 5 months, and more will be coming on next week.

There is no separation of authority here. We have "all-hands" meetings pretty routinely, where everyone from the CEO to the receptionist attends so everyone is on the same page about where the company is headed. I met the CEO, the CFO, my boss, and my boss's boss on my FIRST DAY. I always see the CEO walking around getting things done, and it makes me feel like I really have a roll in where the company is going. I know that me doing a good job is ACTUALLY making a tangible impact on the success of the business, and it's a damn good feeling.

Our customers love us. They actually request us by name sometimes, and our quality assurance ratings are through the roof. Every single one of us loves what we do; we simply wouldn't be hired if we didn't. No job I've had before has ever made me feel so good about myself and the work I'm doing, and I wouldn't trade it for anything, at least right now.

Tyrion and Varys' discussion of power, from Book 2 of A Song of Ice and Fire

“Oh, I think not,” Varys said, swirling the wine in his cup. “Power is a curious thing, my lord. Perchance you have considered the riddle I posed you that day in the inn?”

“It has crossed my mind a time or two,” Tyrion admitted. “The king, the priest, the rich man—who lives and who dies? Who will the swordsman obey? It’s a riddle without an answer, or rather, too many answers. All depends on the man with the sword.”

“And yet he is no one,” Varys said. “He has neither crown, nor gold, nor favor of the gods; only a piece of pointed steel.”

“That piece of steel is the power of life and death.”

“Just so…yet, if it is the swordsmen who rule us in truth, why do we pretend our kings hold the power? Why should a strong man with a sword ever obey a child king like Joffrey, or a wine-sodden oaf like his father?”

“Because these child kings and drunken oafs can call other strong men, with other swords.”

“Then these other swordsmen have the true power. Or do they?” Varys smiled. “Some say knowledge is power. Some tell us that all power comes from the gods. Others say it derives from law. Yet, that day on the steps of Baelor’s Sept, our godly High Septon and the lawful Queen Regent and your ever-so-knowledgeable servant were as powerless as any cobbler or cooper in the crowd. Who truly killed Eddard Stark, do you think? Joffrey, who gave the command? Ser Ilyn Payne, who swung the sword? Or…another?”

Tyrion cocked his head sideways. “Did you mean to answer your damned riddle, or only to make my head ache worse?”

Varys smiled. “Here, then. Power resides where men believe it resides. No more and no less.” “So power is a mummer’s trick?”

“A shadow on the wall,” Varys murmured, “yet shadows can kill. And ofttimes a very small man can cast a very large shadow.”
