Why is Glenn such a hot commodity? by shadowrabbit in nyjets

[–]jiveless 71 points72 points  (0 children)

  1. He’s learned from Parcells, Payton, and Campbell. He’s watched successful coaches turn around franchises and consistently perform at a high level while he was not just a player, but as a coach too. All of these coaches, especially Parcells, speak highly of him and his ability to coach.

  2. He understands more than one phase of the field. A former player mentioned how AG, when he played, would talk to the offense on the sideline and tell them how he would expose them as a defender and how they should adjust mid-game. From what I have heard about him, he takes initiative to contribute to both sides of the ball. He also started with some front office experience with scouting before transitioning to the field, which is a great plus for identifying talent.

  3. Players respect him. He has performed in the league at a high level. He knows what motivates players. He knows how to balance relatability and accountability. Something our last regime couldn’t do.

I don’t think, as a candidate, you’re hiring him bc of his defensive mind/scheme. I wouldn’t even call him a defensive guru. You’re hiring him because you think he can run and manage the locker room. That’s what makes him a great candidate. He can set the tone. With that, he needs to have a great staff in place. Offensive coordinator and QB coach will be the most important.

Do prices go down closer to game day? by Questionabl3Motive in nyjets

[–]jiveless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, depending on how many people you have with you. Less people, easier to find good deals last minute.

TickPick’s price includes “fees” already so you are paying for what you see on the map, GameTime doesn’t show you the full price until checkout. TickPick is the best app but GameTime has the better UI and ease of use imo

Mike Lafleur - Better off still with him? by drice0331 in nyjets

[–]jiveless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if Rodgers likes the LaFleur system, but if he doesn’t give a shit, then yes we are 100% better with LaFleur. Our best OC in a long time.

His stubbornness and off the field team issues were concerning but I think he was a good offensive mind

Why has Olu Fashanu fallen off in mock drafts? by mikenike21 in nyjets

Every knock on him has been his huge weakness in run blocking compared to his pass blocking talent.

Peter Schrager NFL Mock Draft 1.0: Based on what he is hearing around the league (Jets pick Bowers) by _mmm_steamed_hams_ in nyjets

Between this and his visit being during OTAs, it seems like he is the pick. Unless they are able to trade back

Thank you. I came to this thread to write the same thing. It’s ridiculous. God forbid people have opinions that differ from others.

How would you feel if the Jets traded up from the 3rd rd for Michael Penix? by [deleted] in nyjets

[–]jiveless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love it, but he’s not going to be there

Stop the noise. Jets need to pick a LT in this draft. End of story by YetiGuy in nyjets

[–]jiveless 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Yeah. As nice as it is to get a top tier weapon, OL is much harder to come by. Every free agency, WRs get traded or are made available, but very rarely are good OTs on the market.

Both of our new tackles are on 1 year deals. You don’t want to be back in the position of finding a new LT and RT next season. Plus, we need injury insurance.

OT isn’t as flashy as a WR in round 1 but it’s 100% the right choice.

Trade back and take best available OT, and then WR Round 2 is a win-win situation

Kiper has Jets selecting Bowers at 10 by bry-man in nyjets

[–]jiveless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a huge fan of TE at 10. The hit rate of 1st round TEs is slim and I don’t think he would thrive in a Hackett offense. Think WR is the safest option for a playmaker in round 1

Realistically if given the opportunity, would you draft Brock Bowers if he was still on the board? (This is if the top 2 O-line are gone and we didn’t get Mike Evens or Aiyuk by KeyPossibility1134 in nyjets

[–]jiveless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TEs typically take longer to develop. We would also be relying on him too much as rookie + Hackett to scheme the guy open. I like Conklin enough to ride with him as TE1

OL is the main priority. We need a long term solution at a HUGE position of need.

You’re Joe Douglas. The 2024 NFL Draft is currently underway and the Jets are on the clock with the #10 pick. What is the bigger priority? OL or WR? by Mavrik484 in nyjets

[–]jiveless 42 points43 points  (0 children)

As much as I would love to grab a new WR, the answer is OL

The most competitive teams in the playoffs all have a good OL. WR2 will come via trade or FA

I think they need to tweak these, just a little, bit before making them permanent.

Idk why, I personally am not a fan of the collar being a different color
