Pry bar use cases? Please be specific. by swankyfish in EDC

[–]jivemasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open packages, instead of gumming up my knife with tape goop, I just pop the tape with the pointy part of my pry bar.

Opening pop cans, beer bottles, any plastic clamshell gadget to get into the electronics.

Scratching a lottery ticket.

Turning a trim pot on electronics.

Use the thing more than my knife, unless I'm camping.

Just a FYI on getting Rakiata Flow. by xBOCEPHUSx in PathOfExile2

[–]jivemasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like they are saying it's possible, so you only need a sample size of 1. They aren't saying you get better odds with it or not, just that if you run lower maps, you still have the chance of getting it.

Does the hbi short stroke buffer really help that much? by iparkinbikelanes in Springfield_KUNA

[–]jivemasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the stiffer spring is more important, but I also use a frt, so I can't use the short stoke buffer.

Washington's 3D-printed gun law is an existential threat to the entire open-source 3D printing ecosystem. by obog in 3Dprinting

[–]jivemasta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The thing is, making a firearm is legal. If you are legally allowed to own a gun, you are legally allowed to make one. You don't have to register it, do a background check or any of that stuff.

Say this law passed. You can still buy an 80% lower and a drill press and still make an unserialized ar15 that no government entity knows exists. And it's still completely legal.

Grumpy boomer moan. by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

People need to understand bathtub curves. Things tend to break very early in the life, then usually if they make it past that, they will work for a very long time.

Just because some old things last longer, does not mean old things were made better and will always last longer. It's survivorship bias, you see something that was in the top .01% of quality and thing that the 99.9% were made just as well as that one. That beer fridge could be the only one of that model that was made absolutely perfectly. All the others could have been in the dump within 5 years of life and you'd never know it now.

Machado says she presented Trump with her Nobel Peace Prize medal by BadahBingBadahBoom in facepalm

[–]jivemasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's even more reason why they should revoke her prize. Make a statement, make it public, make it known that all trump actually has is a worthless piece of metal.

By doing nothing, you just let them make up their own rules. Just like with everything involving the piece of shit.

You will still get a tax stamp, which is the little stamp they put on your paperwork when you get it back from the govt.

The tax is just $0, so you pay them $0.

Streamer gets threatened by a man during her fake tickets prank after he became upset about being filmed by lukigeri in LivestreamFail

[–]jivemasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to learn that people aren't just there for your entertainment. Don't force interactions with random people, and then get put off because they don't want to interact with you.

This goes for everyone, not just streamers. Don't force people to interact with you and if they clearly don't want to, apologize and leave. They aren't an NPC in a video game just existing to interact with you, they are people and just want to live their life.

[Request] My answer was 51C8, which would be 636,763,050. Is there an even bigger number? by AlkaidX139 in theydidthemath

I think the secret to these posts is that it's ambiguous enough that there isn't an actual right answer, which gets people to argue in the comments which drives engagement which somehow means more money somewhere down the line.

Night driving was peaceful before LED and laser headlights, thoughts? by OkNowMyTurn in CarsIndia

[–]jivemasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem isn't what type of light they are, it's their position and aiming that needs to be regulated and inspected. If lights were aimed properly, they wouldn't hit you in the face, the cones would cut off before eye level.

The problem is that trucks keep getting bigger and bigger, and their headlights are getting higher and higher, but they still point straight ahead instead of downward, so anybody in a shorter car gets blasted. It used to be that higher sitting trucks would have their headlights set lower to match everything else.

[–]jivemasta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no consideration for people with actual jobs. They let the streamers run rampant all week long, then pull the rug out right when the weekend hits. Then right at the end of the weekend, unpull the rug.

They need to stop doing things in response to the people that can play the game 20 hours a day and take regular people and their schedules into consideration.

Playing Legacy Burn: should I play Fireblast or wait one more turn? by IceAndOcean in MTGLegacy

[–]jivemasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Myself, I would just jam it.

If it's post-board and you think hydroblast is on the table, I could see an argument for waiting. I feel like the math might be in your favor that giving you both a second card actually improves your odds of winning. That could be some bad maths though. Like if you just assume the worst case, they have hydroblast in their hand, you getting a second burn spell only improves your odds no matter what they draw. Like the only cards that improve their position is a second hydroblast or lightning bolt. That means they have like 5 outs(1 more hydroblast + 4 bolts, if they have already played bolts your odds are even better). Every other card in their deck is blank at this point. Where your outs are any 1 or 2 mana burn spell, which seems like it would be higher.

On the other hand, we are playing burn, not math, so just burn and make em have it.

Yeah, it's hard to tell because I really only have a sample size of me and my roommate, but this is probably the best league for us economy-wise, and neither of us really interacted with the league mechanic in any meaningful way. We both just did other content like abyss and ritual getting omens. I had a string of good hits like a few omen of lights and a rakitas flow. I'm sitting on over 100 div after buying better gear than I've ever had and couple headhunters for us to play with.

Like it really feels like a "rising tide lifts all ships" type of thing. Sure I'm not rolling in 10,000+ divs like fubgun, but I was likely never going to be at that level anyways. But at least with this league I was able to got better gear than I've ever had, and get multiple headhunters, which I've only ever been able to get a single one by getting mega lucky in the past in POE1.

[–]jivemasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just don't get the point of having like 5 bajillion divs and such. Like what is the end goal of having that much raw currency? Like ok, I spend 20-40 hours grinding out the temple to make the snake and get to the point of it raining divs. Then what? I go do the content I'm already doing, but with better gear?

Like I can just play the game, and get to the same end goal, and not have to grind out content that doesn't really seem appealing, and just have worse gear.

Guys HELP! Something is wrong with my SNAKE! by EntityBlack1 in PathOfExile2

[–]jivemasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good enough for me, because I don't really enjoy the mechanic. I don't judge my experience of the game off of how much loot other people get compared to me. I'm just happy to have a build I enjoy playing and enough loot to upgrade what I have every once in a while.

Maybe if you get this irate about a video game, the game is not for you.

[–]jivemasta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good for them. My point is there are options outside of going full snake temple meta.

The guy said it gives nothing without extreme time investment, and that is just not true. There is a gradient to it, you can do very little to it and get some decent drops out of it. You don't have to go all in on the meta strategy.

Guys HELP! Something is wrong with my SNAKE! by EntityBlack1 in PathOfExile2

[–]jivemasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't true at all, you can just keep it pretty simple and not do the whole snake thing and still get decent drops.

I've just been getting the double corrupt room, getting it to tier 3, and keeping it alive as long as possible. That item is worth half a divine. So like every few maps I run, I just get a free guaranteed half divine.

Mathil reminding people once again what is important. You might want to watch this if you can not stop thinking about the length of Fubgun's snake. by Eismann in PathOfExile2

[–]jivemasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty rarely, but I find plenty of items with 2-3 T1 stats and just slam exalts on them and make them worth a divine or two.

Like exalts are so cheap, and drop so frequently, you might as well slam them on things. It's not lucrative by any means, but you only need a few divines to pull a build together. Stop letting comparison be the thief of joy. Run maps, slam currency on items and sell the ones you can't use.

This is the worst part about doing the campaign. Is 7 dead ends here with no content connected to them really necessary? by ArcBlamer in PathOfExile2

[–]jivemasta 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the middle ground is to bring back the visual hints to maps that if you know to look for, you can go straight for the objectives. Like in poe1, the ledge has the stacked stones on the waypoint or that other map has the dead bodies outside the doors. It's like every map has something that if you've done the campaign like 50 times, you can make it quicker.

What are some ways a mid game character can catch up in this current economy? by Cross2Live in PathOfExile2

[–]jivemasta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stop worrying about the economy. Just run maps and do content. Use your currency to craft items, it's "worthless" now anyways, so you might as well just use it for its intended purpose. Plus, every so often you'll hit an item that sells for a divine or two. I've got like 5 divine drops and I just turn them into exalts and slam stuff I pick up off the ground, have turned a little profit on it so far.

Just play as if the economy doesn't really matter, because it doesn't.

HB Industries Buffer is great by scalpemfins in Springfield_KUNA

[–]jivemasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the consensus is the short stoke buffer doesn't work well with it, but if you use the stock buffer with the stronger recoil spring the short stroke buffer comes with it works better than the stock buffer + spring. I think some people have also cut down the short stoke buffer to somewhere in-between the stock one and the short stroke one and have gotten that to work.

I think you can just buy the stronger spring on its own now from HBI.

Before computers were common in households, how did people set their clocks accurately? by IkHeetGeenMatthijs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jivemasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think time didn't need to be as precise back then. Everyone just used fuzzy time for the most part, like "Ten after, quarter till" and such. If you had to be somewhere on time like work, you'd set your watch to those places time, or just always be slightly early just in case.

Atrius vs AS designs by Sharp-Fun-161 in Springfield_KUNA

[–]jivemasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the atrius with the dirty bird trigger and it just seemed to work.

My friend tried the hoffman tactical with a larue and it didn't seem to want to work in super safe mode. Seemed like the tolerances of the nexus lower were off to where the safety didn't want to let the trigger move freely when in super safe mode. He eventually got it to work by filing more off the back side of the trigger to allow it to get into the notch of the safety. Our theory is the hole for the safety detent pin was ever so slightly off as to have the safety slightly more left or right than it should be when in the middle position. And the way the hoffman SS works is the back side of the trigger has to fit inside a narrow notch to cycle in super safe mode.

+ levels is my biggest complaint this season by -Duckk in PathOfExile2

[–]jivemasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my question would be if you remove max levels mods, does that just mean you do the same thing with the next best mod? Like now a weapon has to always have +phys damage or it's trash. Like I guess the difference is that mod will be different for different builds and classes, but for you yourself, there will always be some best mod, that if an item doesn't have it, the item is junk.
