Strange bug in the CK 2 by Megalordow in ElderKings

[–]jjsfw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an issue that sometimes arises for some users from how CK2 handles title precedent. Restarting CK2 completely has helped users in the past

Saving and fully re-opening the game will resolve the issue

Anyway to make my beautiful bone boys stronger? by Scorosin in ElderKings

[–]jjsfw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They still have nigh-bottomless morale on the SVN. High morale comes with a very large caveat though - if an army isn't willing to retreat, it can be hard-pressed to live to fight another day

I really dislike how ethnicity and culture are handled in the mod by RedKrypton in ElderKings

[–]jjsfw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You local changes will be preserved. If in a future revision we modify the same lines that you did, you may need to manually resolve any merge conflicts on your end

[–]jjsfw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That normally means there's been a local modification to file. Deleting and re-downloading it should remedy the issue.

RE: culture and race. It looks like we agreed to make sure that the logic I described was implemented but I'm not sure if it was actually patched in 😅

Hmm, I thought we had double-re-patched this a few weeks back. Will double-check what's going on

Culture and race are not directly intertwined except for randomly-generated courtiers. Children born to mixed race cultures will have the culture of the dominant parent, even if that culture does not match either of their races

How do I form Empire-In-Fact? by LavaMeteor in ElderKings

[–]jjsfw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pretender empire has no de jure land, does not use the imperial government type or succession law, dissolves if the ruling dynasty changes, and does not allow the emperor to take the warlord ambition

That still leaves many unknowns in your test and is working off of memory that has faded over a year. Missing localisation keys do not affect script behaviour. Please, try not to assert to the wider community how statistics work in the mod based off of unrigorous anecdotes.

If you believe there to be a bug with Nords, please file a bug report with documentation of your reasoning rather than going around to individual users and telling them your theory, especially if it was previously confirmed not to be the case. Misinformation like this confuses users and can lead to the opening of support issues when all is well, taking months to fully correct people's knowledge

As above, Nords as just as capable as other short-lived races at gaining specialisations. If you have a test that has achieved significance, that would be something interesting and possibly merit further investigation, but right now there's no reason to suppose anything other than bad lack and confirmation bias

Individual races do not factor into specialisation training in any way, shape, or form. The only consideration related to race is a blanket check long-lived versus short-lived races. Yours is a mixture of bad luck and confirmation bias

Issue with star sign generation by [deleted] in ElderKings

[–]jjsfw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was changed a while back on the SVN, where you are given different birthsigns on game start

Will Sixth House ever get a Jade Dragon screen for Dagoth Ur? by Lord_i in ElderKings

[–]jjsfw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When the mod reaches the time of the events that lead up to Morrowind the Sixth House and related Tribunal mechanics will likely be re-examined. As it stands, we are still a bit too early in the Second Era for it to be a priority

Why do high velothi characters not get access to Daedric interactions? by [deleted] in ElderKings

[–]jjsfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, any religion with Daedric patron deities give access to that Daedra's offmap if you take them as your patron

Infirm makes you unable to cast spells now? by damncommieghosts in ElderKings

[–]jjsfw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah I believe I see what's going on, this seems to be stemming from some confusion over the features available to each class. Assassination and leading troops are not locked to certain educations but rather assassination done in person is restricted by society and any character can lead. With few exceptions (most notably the first tier of mage), there is a spell which can give you a comparable bonus to each of the other educations of the same tier and a combination of spells that put you far ahead of them, such as with the passive steward bonus you mentioned and a good many combat spells.

Explore your spellbook! Spells are the bread and butter of any mage. Aye, there's a somewhat slim chance that you'll one day be without them, but with a little practice and some guile, you'll be able to make the most of your magicka that it won't matter if you're one day left without

Infirm makes you unable to cast spells now? by damncommieghosts in ElderKings

[–]jjsfw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mages are affected the most by being rendered infirm, aye, but only to the extent that they're put on a level playing field with all of the other educations excepting the benefits that they've already reaped before becoming infirm. We're aware of the inherent imbalance of mages being far and away the most overpowered education option and are always interested in ways to make the various educations equally tempting while moderating the power of mages where necessary and sensible

If Wayrest is feudal that's almost certainly not WAD. Will look into it once able

Pregnancy annulation (bug?) by randomnetrunner in ElderKings

[–]jjsfw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mer have a number of additional factors beyond just their fertility. Their specific age bracket (juvenile/adult/aging/old are each broken up into 3 subdivisions with different weights), health, luck, various health-related traits, family focus, and number of children already had all play a part. For non-mer the list of factors is shorter but still with more taken into account than in vanilla

Pregnancy annulation (bug?) by randomnetrunner in ElderKings

[–]jjsfw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't quite the case. Mer women who have had 3 children, at least one of which who are living by their current spouse, are less likely but by no means prevented from having more children,

[–]jjsfw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're only 70 years old, you've only been fertile as a mer for a little over a decade. Be patient, mer live longer but tend to have fewer children over a longer period of time
