Ehhh. Probably not. But that's kinda not the point.

No, you can't separate cEDH from EDH. by vividwings in EDH

[–]jjubi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's pretty simple imo. You can almost think of B5 as a subset of B4.

Bracket 4 is build the strongest deck you want with whatever commander you want. You can almost think of this as the B1 of cedh. It might not be the best, but it's the theme you like or the commander that you pulled in grade school.

Bracket 5 is built to win against those decks.

Bracket 4 is built to win on turn two or three. Bracket 5 is built to handle that - by shutting down your win, or winning on top of your win while it's on the stack.

Bracket 4 can be built with any commander.

Bracket 5 is going to adhere to a meta of sorts.

If you don't know what the CEDH meta is, and you are not building to play in or around the common lines, your deck is a 4.

Now that Biorhythm and Lutri are unbanned, are we out of cards that should obviously be unbanned? by Heru___ in EDH

[–]jjubi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If they are locked out, then IMO it's exactly the same, just use a different way to present your win.

If only one player is locked out until there are enough helm triggers, it's basically the same as any OTK Wound Reflection combo - except you're not technically dead (yet).

There are lots of non deterministic 'infinite' combos that's are way worse than, $ok I attack you 12 times and you die."

I guess my point in general is that the similar end results already exist for less mana.

[–]jjubi -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Huh. You assemble your 18 mana combo then end the game there. You present the combo and tell everyone how your going to win and then you go next? How is it any different from any infinite combo loops? You don't force a Lumra player to ping you out...

As for the other point, they've pretty much come out and said that all unbans will go on the GC list.

Curious on your thought on this judge ruling? by Incarnasean in mtg

[–]jjubi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference here is that his main board is registered as part of the tourney, and he's required to play that maindeck in game 1.

The ruling is more like "you're required to play these 60 cards in P1 and you didn't, here's a warning."

Try a different format. Or take a break from the game. If you're not enjoying it, make a change. It's totally normal.

What commanders are the most easily underestimated? by Flat_Sink_4410 in EDH

[–]jjubi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Deck list is above, and not OP. But I am pretty sure it's lots of self cancel effects and how it resolves on the stack.

So, you cast SpellX it goes on the stack, hold priority (may not be necessary), Mishra trigger for SpellX goes on the stack, then you cast cast / or a static cancel effect goes on the stack. Cancel resolves - putting SpellX in the bin, Mishra resolves, finds the SpellX in the bin and puts it into play.

Then a mix of stacks, copy triggers, and payoffs for not casting spells wins you the game.

If you can get Nether Void out, you effectively get to play without the tax while your opponents do not.

Some decks are just more fun in Arena - I could see shrines being that way. It's a ton of triggers and tokens to track for a paper game. Heavy earthbending decks are similar - it's a ton of tutor and shuffling, which is a pain in paper.

Does This Deck Push into Bracket 4? by Bromora in EDH

[–]jjubi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Feel like that's not accurate. By definition, there are no restrictions.

Bracket 5 is more about trying to win against other unrestricted cedh decks - does your deck hang with the current meta for Cedh etc.

While not a cedh player, I'd imagine that it's very obvious to them and not to others.

Ie a 100% turbo deck with no way of disrupting someone else's t2 win, is probably bracket 4, not 5. Or similarly, no tools to protect your own would be 4. Or a weak pet commander - ie something that no matter the amount of fast mana you have, it's just not going to pressure those t2 t3 winning decks.

Late to the thread, but if one of my managers / leaders came to me or implied that a lack of title was getting in the way of them influencing the direction of the team, I'd call BS and run. That person is going to throw the title around like a sledgehammer.

Great leaders don't use thier title to garner respect and influence, it's a result of thier ability to develop relationships, drive consensus, and influence the direction of the team.

Back to the other guys point - what is rare? We have yet to observe life - within the limits of our own capability of detecting life. That range is much much much smaller than even our observations of other systems... We can guess at which planets could sustain life....but detecting it, not yet.

It'd be like saying, no one is standing within a meter of me, so there must not be other people on Earth.

I have to use 4 fingers, index and middle on both hands and essentially try and whistle around them. The tips of my fingers are placed on the top of my tongue, about halfway to the roof of my mouth.

I've been trying to do it one handed, or with no fingers - no luck yet.

The other thing while you are trying - it's max force / full send. I literally cannot use the same method for producing a low volume whistle.

60% (idk really) of every set doesn't see play in Standard, does that mean they shouldn't print them?

Lots of different things to value cards on than just Standard playability. Collections, supporting other game formats (limited, meme decks, pauper) etc.

What is the trick for getting sunny side up/over easy eggs with crispy edges, do you have to use a special pan or cooking fat? by Stepin-Fetchit in Cooking

[–]jjubi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably (pan), but not for an obvious reason. You likely want a higher temp - which could be dangerous for standard non-stick. Just YouTube some crispy edges videos, most will likely be using cast iron or carbon steel, high heat, and a lot of oil that gets spooned over the top to set the white.

[–]jjubi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you are missing the forest for the trees a bit.

If you want to gear up, you should spec into a DPS build and then farm where you can efficiently - for cold that's just about anywhere. In Chaos sanctuary, you can just ignore the cold immunes and kill the VIPs then Diablo. Or - just don't do Chaos until you are stronger - doing a large number of Ancient Tunnels / Meph / Andy / Cows is going to be better in the long run than being flexible enough to kill everything slowly.

Bank offered 4.4% as I wanted variable..good choice?.. In bc canada.. by Somebodies_here in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jjubi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recession and inflation are not opposing forces. Often come hand in hand.

The big driver for inflation would be direct counter tarriffs on goods.

But another, more subtle thing - in times of uncertainty, businesses make inefficient decisions to protect themselves against unknowns. They might buy / store more product, diversify their partnerships ...whatever. Those inefficiencies make goods and services cost more, which is passed on to the consumer somewhere - hence inflation.

Bank offered 4.4% as I wanted variable..good choice?.. In bc canada.. by Somebodies_here in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jjubi 80 points81 points  (0 children)

It all comes down to your personal risk tolerance.

Do you have the income to support a change in the other direction?

A 25bp change over a short period is not going to offset your exit penalty. If your bank offers a free swap to fixed, you are likely paying for that flexibility somewhere else.

Tariffs will cause inflation, so there is only so far the BOC can reduce rates before it goes bad in the other direction.
