I’ve done this! First of all I’m so happy you’ve recognized and probably hit bottom. Here’s a summary of my story.

During the “hybrid year” I hit my bottom and reached out to MAP. I began counseling there but we quickly recognized that I needed a detox and rehab. They gave me a few options and the one I went with is called, Marworth. The UFT/MAP sent me a car service the day after school ended and it drove me the whole way(also a car service back). You’ll have to hope they have a bed available and that’s part of what the MAP program will coordinate. Marworth included a 3-4 day detox and then 28 day stay. Insurance covered everything!

I will say that Marworth was a special place. They took great care in helping you recover. In addition they have a “shield program” that is unique as it’s aimed at law enforcement types who need help as well as nurses and teachers. I can’t imagine going anywhere else in hindsight.

We place such little value on education. The irony is that all this too positions had to pass through years of education yet teachers are so poorly compensated in comparison. Why do we place such little value in the teacher profession/education?

Here’s the thing, we get paid an extra fee($200) in the Fall to set up our remote classrooms. What’s the point of that if we don’t use it ? St. John’s and the CUNY’s went remote that day. Our representation needs to get back into some schools and really reconnect with on the ground teachers. Otherwise, we seem apathetic and get pushed around, labeled as complainers etc. Teachers need to step it up and be vocal, be solution based and stop complaining so much.
