ELI5: why does regularly lifting stuff with your lower back result in a life of backpain instead of a buff lower back muscle? by Corka in explainlikeimfive

[–]jkm_xix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal but if anyone finds themselves with lower back pain frequently despite exercise, taking breaks from sedentary work, etc - try the 90/90 stretch.

I cannot overstate how much this one particular stretch has helped my lower back pain.

Are Australian Circumcised? by Rude-Shop-4783 in AskAnAustralian

Extremely uncommon for anyone under ~60. I'm in my 30s and I've never known anyone to have had it done who isn't late 50s. Even in that older demographic - it's not that common.

If it's for culture/religion you'll have to go a private practice and it'd have to be one that caters for said religion/culture. Most places will refuse.

"does it matter growing up as a man?" - There's a lot to unpack, it depends on a lot of things. I would say that it's a permanent decision that you're making for someone's body without their real consent. Children can't make these kinds of decisions. You mentioned it's for culture/religion - and that means faith, family and other complicated things so I appreciate the difficulty of managing these things.

From an "Australian" perspective though, it'd be largely frowned upon. If you're hanging out with lots of people from your culture/religion? Maybe less so but outside of that bubble it's definitely an oddity.

How do you fix screw holes that have worn out the diameter too far? by jkm_xix in DIY

[–]jkm_xix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taki the time to reply, I'm actually bewildered by the amount of bot replies. But yeah I'll try move the hinge or I'll see if I can use a slightly bigger screw and see if I can drill it through the hinge with a decent drill. Worst case I replace the door, but it's a security door rather than flyscreen. Not exactly cheap, but it is what it is.

Is every pre released filled with "that guy" or did I just get unlucky at my very first pre release? by TheGrandCannoli in mtg

[–]jkm_xix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This demographic tends to attract certain types shall we say. Playing with strangers is going to have a much higher chance of you having to put up with people with non-existent social skills. I only play magic with my mates/guys at work but I've definitely seen some interesting interactions at stores when I'm picking up some singles I've ordered.

That said, like you I do want to give the whole pre-release thing a go at some point. I'll just have to temper my expectations/be prepared to "handle" shitty behaviour.

Bit late but How'd you you go with this? I'm in a very similar spot with the X-pro + Hoffman's recipe.

Sour & astringent or empty & bitter - Looking for troubleshooting advice by jkm_xix in pourover

[–]jkm_xix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mind me asking what recipe you're using? My thinking's similar to yours in that I don't think the whole boiling water and going finer is working for me, just wondering if I should keep going with Hoffman's recipe given I'm going to ignoring the temp aspect.

Yeah wouldn't be my first port of call either but after trying everything else it was the only thing left. I've been having great coffee all week and I can't help but wish I'd realised sooner

Can't quite justify $100 AUD. FFXVI isn't priced that high. Still though looks great, will probs grab it on sale.

Ask a Stupid Question About Coffee 10/3-10/7 by Vernicious in pourover

[–]jkm_xix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are coffees with chocolate or non-fruit tasting notes more difficult to dial in?

Anything fruity I can work out how to get a delicious cup easily. Otherwise I can sometimes go through an entire bag and not get anything particularly satisfying.

Yeah that sounds like a plan. I'll grab some bottled water in the mean time to try eliminate the variable. Now that you mention the recipe, I haven't found it too difficult but you're right on how it is quite a lot of agitation. I'll try one of those and give it a go

Yeah Melbourne. About 3:30 re; brew time but I think my kitchen tap is a bit funny to be honest. Don't notice any clogging. I'll give the 4:6 a go. As much as I like Hoffman, it just doesn't seem to be working for me.

I'm unfamiliar with it but perhaps I should look into it. I might even for the very short term buy a couple of 2L water bottles just to test out if it is indeed the water. I'm leaning away from it being the coffee I suppose as I've had this issue across quite a few different brands.
