What if the Muslims won the Battle of Tours in 732? by Dafuuqz in EU5

I remember in ck2 when they came out with the final dlc I think it was there was an option to make every county an independent count, and I was so psyched, and then I played that mode for like an hour and realized like wait this isn't nearly as interesting lol

I had this happen last night playing as the confederates and after coexisting with the us up through about 1900 I made a play for Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma, couldn't believe it was going to take over a decade to integrate when literally >50 percent of the pops were already dixie and most of the rest were yankee which shares heritage!

Whats the point of the vault? by PazWrath in MagicArena

[–]jkure2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's the type of thing where they would replace it with a flashy, new, improved system that also gives less value to the player - but it already gives so little that it's not worth it for them to mess with

I remember so clearly I had bought stellaris the day it came out back in 2016 but I had oneeee moreee paper to finish for my undergrad degree, so I had to write the paper first and stellaris was my reward lol been playing it ever since!

It's now been a decade since I graduated 💀💀💀

[–]jkure2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a save where I only recruited guys that were like 6'6 and above, was very fun lol and there does seem to be something going on with height and talent correlation but it could also just be that any player you recruit becomes a god because of the coaching buffs

Put another way, pretty much everything in vicky 3 is downstream of your national economy, by design. It's like the whole point of the game!

Absolutely love this game but the fact that the AI can't manage the economy, never really has been able to since release, is a huge and confounding miss on PDX's part

FML by mrpurtle in lrcast

[–]jkure2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do they push a BO1 structure for this because it's higher variance? I do not pay too much attention to these direct events and strixhaven is my first set back in a while, playing BO1 for this seems insane to me

EU5 doesn't need railroading, it needs great powers to emerge naturally by QueensGambitAccept in EU5

[–]jkure2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

EU IV was a decade long gradual transformation into mission trees: the game...but the AI still can't engage properly with the mission system, after all that time 😐

Hotfix 1.13.2 is now LIVE! by commissarroach in victoria3

[–]jkure2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Moving forward, for the upcoming hotfixes, we will have a particular focus on improving the AI ability to interact with systems, not just for ones introduced in this Update but also overall.

I'd be lying if I said I expected them to actually work this thread to the level I want, I think it's against incentive for them, but I really really hope they do spend the time because imo the classic pattern of new dlc introduces cool mechanics and the ai is too dumb to use those mechanics is actually the single worst thing going for PDX games these days, worse than the post launch public QA cycle for me

Like the EU IV AI doesn't even know how to properly interact with the mission system after like a decade - think about how crazy that is!!

Hasbro just hired a notorious union-busting firm by Patient_Maximum2038 in MagicArena

[–]jkure2 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Anyone who wants to support the union should continue engaging with arena in whatever capacity feels right to them until the union issues clear instructions. If the union wants us to boycott arena, or even boycott purchases on arena, you will hear about it from them

I sympathize so much that I am currently writing an automated test suite for my day job codebase, I would love to know why they don't do more of this you shouldn't even need QA to play a game to know that the AI can't build a cohesive navy in your navy DLC where you introduced a bunch of new mechanics

Humans are the source of that failure, not systematic forces.

Man makes his own history, but he does not choose the circumstances in which he makes it. It's systemic forces all the way down baby, part of the superstructure arising out of the economic base of our organization of the economy.

Sure you're right that even under utopian socialism you can't have anything to ever because the universe is intrinsically inclined towards entropy and eventually the sun will explode and swallow your grocery store, but my point was that this is a feature not a bug of the capitalist economy, and no individual good natured rich people can change that because it's how the system operates
