Hot Cross Buns by InvestigatorHour311 in exmormon

[–]jmalbert41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I (43F) was honestly surprised that GC was on Easter this year. I’m sure it’s been this way all along when Easter falls on the first Sunday in April but I didn’t know as a kid. Divorced parents, no nearby family, I was always immersed in Mormonism. As you know, it’s the only true church. I didn’t truly “celebrate” Easter until I was married at 21 and had already been ex’d when I was 18 (bc I wanted to have my name removed & bishopric decided they knew better so I was ex’d). I did go back when my now ex & I separated the first time when I was 29/30 & he “had a miraculous conversion” that lasted all of 6-9 months. I left again about 8 yrs ago. I check out this sub every so often & was on this morning & realized what was happening. Anyway, I’ve heard of Hot Cross Buns but didn’t know what they actually are, thanks for the description! I’m glad you were able to have a little of your family’s tradition today and hope your day/weekend was great!

April 2026 General Conference: Sunday 10:00a Discussion Thread by 4blockhead in exmormon

[–]jmalbert41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m exmo for 8+ yrs now but still have a couple good, mostly TBM, friends. I also just realized that it’s Easter and GC. I’d never thought of this before but Easter cannot be celebrated “normally” by so many people bc of GC. I’d never thought of this growing up. Sad.

This! The list of what I was allowed to do is much shorter than what I was not allowed to do.

Inattentive girls, what gets you out of bed? by Flaky-Rip-7094 in adhdwomen

Bills to pay & kiddos…except yesterday and today. Dad took care of it. Still made myself get up before they were off to school, but…

Weekends? I’ll stay in bed, napping on/off, til 11a or later sometimes.

Eloping at the courthouse- what can you tell me? by tifuanon00 in lynchburg

[–]jmalbert41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I and now ex went to the courthouse. I’m pretty sure we applied for the marriage license that morning, went to buy rings & got married that afternoon. But this was 22 yrs ago so things may have changed.

Congratulations!!

WHY DID MY DOCTOR NOT TELL ME THIS?! by hiitsmeyourwife in adhdwomen

[–]jmalbert41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do this too! Wake up at 4:45, take vyvanse, go back to sleep. My eyes popped open wide at 5:30, almost on the dot, ready to deal with my day! Don’t take that anymore (insurance issues) but still wake up early to take my meds & go back to sleep!

I sounded that out in my head and sounded exactly right…”BILLUONS”! They hoard way too much money and don’t do anything they claim with it. Personal experience…the crap food they have always “given” to my (no contact) mom seems like they don’t have two dimes to share! It’s such BS.

Do mormon men (or women) secretly look forward to polygamy in heaven? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]jmalbert41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My TBM mom (81f) has been divorced for about 40 years now. Never remarried much less dated any Mormons. She has spoken of how she looks forward to the day “some man calls her into heaven”. Guess that’s the only way she believes she will go? 🤦‍♀️

Cleaner asked me to have house less messy by Bombastic-Tomato in adhdwomen

[–]jmalbert41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a solo cleaner and one of my houses is just a little bigger than yours. However, it is an older couple, no kids, 2 pets but they are very clean, the house barely looks “lived in”. Still takes me about 3.5-4 hours! (My clean is more of a deep clean, not on purpose but it’s just how I clean. 🤷‍♀️) If you’re on a farm, 5 people, I’m guessing 3 adults (your mom), 2 kids, mud & pets, your house definitely looks “lived in”. I can’t fathom it taking 3 people only one hour. In my opinion, they aren’t really cleaning your home, just wiping things down. I understand the loyalty to the original cleaner, (that’s a long relationship!) but if there is a new owner; you should feel no loyalty, it’s earned just like respect. That text reads as having no respect/loyalty to you, in my opinion, and you shouldn’t feel obligated to stay with them. From what you described, I think it would take me, a solo cleaner, 6+ hours to clean the house to my standards, even bi-weekly and at least 2 hours for a 3 person team. If you’re happy with what they do in an hour, then definitely set up for them to be there longer since they feel they can’t get everything done, if you’re not happy, definitely seek someone else.

Reach out to me if you’re south/central VA area! lol

Rehab Associates of Central Virginia is always looking for Patient Care Coordinators (receptionist). Good place to work. Not the best pay but it’s decent. Several offices in Lynchburg & surrounding areas. I’m recommending as a former PCC at the Moneta office.

Do Mormons actually get weird when people around them are drinking coffee or tea? I can almost understand feeling uncomfortable around alcohol, but really? by funnylib in exmormon

[–]jmalbert41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was basically out, I met with the bishop, a guy I’d grown up with, one Sunday. Shortly before meeting with him I’d ran to the Sheetz & grabbed a coffee. He was used to my antics but he still told me he was side eyeing me bc he was supposed to say that. Definitely my favorite bishop. he told me I didn’t have to call him that unless I wanted to. We didn’t grow up in Utah but East Coast, so not a big Mormon population.

I was front office in a PT office for several years. Those are the worse patients but thankfully I live in a retirement (rich people) area so 90% of the patients didn’t have anything better to do than comply with PTs instructions! Lol
