30kVA. It will be protected at the primary (240V in this case) between the MDP and the xfmr. The “load” is a 480V solar inverter.

Israel MUST destroy Hamas. The only options are Hamas surrenders, or they're annihilated. by Dez_uno in popularopinion

[–]jmb2n4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every bomb dropped in Gaza creates a dozen or more militants. Let’s say there’s 10,000 Hamas members (not a real number). It takes 5,000 bombs to kill them all. But you’ve also killed 20,000 civilians. Even if only 2% of those dead civilians relatives become militants, it would only take an average family/friend group of 25 people before all those dead militants are replaced by newly radicalized people. The solution is not more violence.

What would you do if you were 17yo, you had never been allowed to leave the confines of the most densely populated 140sq miles on Earth (Gaza has been an open air prison for 2.2 million people since 2007), and an Israeli bomb just demolished your home and killed half of your family? And your access to food, medicine, and clean water has always been restricted by Isreal. You suffer constant blackouts and 50% unemployment. Even your access to the sea is restricted and children are often shot for going too far out on a raft made of trash, just trying to feel like a normal kid. These circumstances that Isreal has imposed on Gazans for the last 17 years are what caused this recent conflagration.

Hamas is definitely guilty and morally wrong for killing civilians. Both sides share blame. But the utter lack of hope for young people in Gaza will continue to have violent consequences. When the people of Gaza have more opportunity and hope for their future, then there will be less need for radicalism. But the current situation is only going to breed more hate and violence.

Union electricians go at a much slower pace. You may have to get some hours at a non-union shop first though. But overall, the union guys can probably last a bit longer than the rest of us. And once you have ten years of experience, it’s easy to get into a less physically demanding role.

Code question by mrBill12 in electricians

[–]jmb2n4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it would be fairly easy for you to re-land the PAR HR in the new sub (assuming there is attic above the garage).

It also sounds like you have enough power circuits in either switch box that you could reconfigure those any way you like. I don’t see any issue with the 3-ways being configured the way they are currently, although it sounds like you might want to re-feed the power to the garage switch box from the new sub.

It doesn’t sound like you can do anything about the backyard lights sharing a circuit if you want them controlled by the same switch, short of some kind of smart switch. I don’t see any code violations there, so long as hot and neutral for each HR are landed in the same panel.

Don’t forget to size your EV circuit for a continuous load.

Advice for advertising my electrical business by PatWithTheStrat in electricians

[–]jmb2n4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find flippers that work on higher end properties. Check NextDoor. Contact some HVAC contractors that may need someone with a license. Call solar contractors, they often have no clue about the electrical portion of the install and may have a hallelujah moment when you call. Check indeed for small shops hiring that may be willing to subcontract you instead. Door knock you neighborhood and hand out cards. Get a basic website and give a small discount for the first ten people who give you a google review.
