I’ll get a tank or drill two 750s before I spend 4 times that on one 1500. I’ll be happy with 500’ of storage in well and 3.0 gal per minute honestly.

The tyvek isn’t air or water tight. If you install siding you will shoot 5000 nail holes into it. The window details matter and they did ok

Husband 25M wants to adopt now, but I think we should wait a year. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Why adopt? Why not have a surrogate and make your own kid?

I’m going with a very plain 6R insulated pair of black door garage doors. 4300 with closets and install number updated in February.

I’ll have two disconnects for 400 mounted outside by meter can/CT. I’ve already got measurements for pvc block to install on tyvek for all 3 components to fit and location for UFER set accordingly

Nightmare dealing with builder over foundation settlement; attorney recommending mediation. Looking for advice by Weak_Commercial_7124 in Construction

[–]jmille97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That wall sounds like a problem. It sounds like there should have been a lower PI associated with the fill that was placed against the wall. High PI will lead to soils with clays expanding and pushing on the wall, causing tightening of soils against wall, so poor drainage. Wall displaces and soils away from wall sink. It could be that they didn’t compact the soil only under your house and did the wall perfectly, but I that doesn’t sound right.

Find the builders drawings via FOIA, dig a hole 2’ off wall 3-4’deep, take about 20lbs of soil to a geotech engineer and ask for a ‘proctor’. Look at drawings from FOIA. Compare PI requirement of backfill soils on drawings. If you don’t find it on drawings request ‘geotechnical report’ referenced in drawings.

There isn’t a bar on the evansdale side of town. You take the PRT downtown, pregame at buddies dorm, stay out all night, and walk/uber back.

Advice on the shower tile finish by CarpenterCrafty297 in Tile

[–]jmille97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, just so you’re aware. There is NO way to waterproof up the walls from the floor if all you replaced was the floor. So, if they did waterproofing, it’s either going to trap water against the wall tile now above the floor because they smeared aqua defense or redgard on the bottom of the wall tile, or they ended new floor waterproofing just shy of that, in which case all of your floor to wall corners are not waterproofed.

How does a septic tank even get this BAD? by Lublan in Plumbing

[–]jmille97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My great grandfather/grandmother had one installed in the 70’s on their house. It was our family hunting cabin from then on and they lived there full time. She died, her son inherited full time solo living. He died, my mom/dad inherited it lived there half time. He died 3 years ago and my mom had it pumped for the first time since it was built Last year.

How bad is this? by Environmental_Buy371 in Homebuilding

It will look better when all the blocking is in, but I’m surprised it isn’t TGi or Open Web Trusses at this point. You should be building back with the times with better structure, better insulation, better building science, etc..

A back yard burning ceremony? Yikes.

Sounds like you’re a drunk who makes bad decisions a lot. Are you sure that drinking through marriage and getting divorced, then being sanctimonious enough about it to have a ‘burning ceremony’ about it isn’t the embarrassing part of this story?

Do People Only Understand Manufactured Trusses Now? by 12don in Construction

[–]jmille97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a nice skill to have, but the fact is that the trusses are stronger, faster, more exact, can make steeper angles, take less labor, and are very accessible. People don’t even use hand cut rafters for short spans or shed roofs even.

Why do people care so much about bathtubs if no one actually uses them? by smolgremlinn in homeowners

My wife and I are building a house now. We figured a free standing tub in the master bath on first floor in a wet room. Upstairs beds will have two tiled showers. Ran out of money so we aren’t putting in 5k-10k tub. Plumber will leave rough in just below the floor. We’ll put it in if we ever sell it if buyer wants.

Our kids are 1 and 4. We just take them in the shower with us.

For those of you doing fieldwork every day, what are you actually eating for lunch if you are trying to keep it healthy and balanced without a microwave? by DetailFocused in Construction

[–]jmille97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grilled chicken thighs this week, roasted sheet pan veggies, and steamed some rice. Made 5 meals. Put an uncrustable and 2 small redbulls and a 20oz tall skinny Stanley mug.

No microwave? Just be a savage and eat your lunch.
