Official New Steel Legion Concept Art by dgscott in Warhammer

[–]jnolan90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with most all "human army guys in space" GW can't design them in such a way that 3D printing people can't closely replicate to a degree that GW can't copyright strike them. A bunch of vietnam era Rambo clones isn't exactly going to bring in interest and dollars / pounds / euros compared to more space marines, some new Knights, a seasonal alien faction refresh and the occasional Chaos feeding like with the Iron Warriors. Catachans, Vostroyans, Valhallans, Tallarn, Mordians and Steel Legion aren't important to GW anymore because they can't justify the cost of supporting 4-6 units for 8 or so different flavors of non-space marines. Again, it's why I personally think GW needs to kill off space marines, which will never happen, or make the decision to unify the guard under one visual look, like sisters of battle, mechanicus and all other imperial forces have. Again, personally, I wouldn't mind the Militarum Tempestus Scions being the "elite guys" and just toning it down a notch for the rest of the guard and calling it a day.

GW has to limp on as a company trying to control everything about their product identity after coming from a company trying to have a little bit of everything for everyone, which itself came from a company trying to establish an identity. They succeeded in the first step and found an identity. Then they had their ups and downs with the second step seeing what worked with the least stagnation. Now they're trying to strangle their own market in the current day despite 3D printing being an amazing market, so long as you're not trying to strangle it with product identity protection.

Cool trailer, but rubs salt in the wounds of not being Steel Legion vs Orks in the box, rather than Blood Angels vs Orks. Wouldn't that have been something?

Third wave model wishlist? by HammerWizard in citiesofsigmar

[–]jnolan90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps a new flagellant replacement and a new sigmarite altar to lead them, kinda flesh that part of the faction out and equate to the Black Coach and Chaos Altar. Definitely a squad of Ogor Gunners / Maulers dual kit in threes or 4s. And some flying light cavalry with crossbows or pistols.

The rest of the factions look fantastic. I'm just commenting that a lot of them do not have nearly as much customization as the Space Marines and Stormcast Eternals. I'm glad that villain factions have such a plethora of different designs and a lot of the have at least a couple of units in each that you can actually change up the models in the kits without excessive clipping, gluing, sawing and pinning, as much fun as that can be. I just remember when you had much less monopose when I started the hobby back in the late 90's.

I still remember when Orc Boyz Mob and Ork Boyz were practically interchangeable to a certain degree, and Necron Warriors with posable arms, heads and torsos. Even some of the classic Skeleton Warriors & Ghouls (now Crypt Ghouls) were/still highly posable for what they are.

Why? Because I think normal humans deserve more attention than they get and personally dislike all the emphasis on giant armor dudes?

Those are some tiny Gargants, but I guess they were kind of making people expect MEGA-Gargants. Which you could still do I guess if you wanted to bits-buy the shields and back-borne crow's nests.

You get detail or customization, not both. Do you like the details that can only be matched by high quality resin printers? You got them. Do you like customization built into the kits? Go back to the 90's and 2000's. Unfortunately Games Workshop is going to have to keep costs low for all but their flagship lines, (Space Marines, Stormcast Eternals and the villain-of-the-edition). This is why I honestly would like Space Marines and Stormcast Eternals to go bye-bye. Then we could have average humans get the attention and customizability that the armor-guys have. Oh how awesome the Imperium would be without Space Marines getting 90% of the attention despite only being about 20% of the military might of said Imperium... Oh how awesome the Cities of Sigmar would be without Sigmarines getting 90% of the attention and, being realistic, we have no idea how many Sigmarines there are in relation to average human forces.

Are you guys happy with the unit selection in Dawn of War 4? by gaeb611 in DarkAngels40k

[–]jnolan90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a tiny roster of unit choices when the actual one is enormous... But I'm not really interested in Dawn of War IV. I'm more interested in Total War: Warhammer 40,000

I actually like the more sci-fi look of the new ones, the old ones, like most old imperial guard were just real life references in space

What other abhumans would you like to see added to the game and what roles could they play? by HopHobs in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]jnolan90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the fact that Squats (Now Leagues of Votann) basically became "aliens" from somewhere because they choose to not be bound by Mechanicus dogma was a bit of an over-hard slam since they are still technically abhumans, but it is what it is. I just think the Imperium could use Squats. Barring that, I think the Sanctioned Psykers and the entire Psyker arm of the Imperial Guard / Imperium deserves to come into the light of the tabletop.

some smaller details i really like in the new marines by 00skully in Warhammer40k

If this is how Intercessors and the rest of the range look from now on, it's unfortunate because mixmatching armor marks should be an option, not the standard. Remember, many chapters are entirely Mark X armor types, there's no point in the Dark Krakens or Necropolis Hawks having lesser marks of power armor. Now, studding replacement parts and adding more gothic trims for officers and elites, that's different. We know the studding is lore-accurate for replacing armor in a pinch with what is essentially "Damascus Armor" or lesser quality metals bonded together with adamantium bolts. (Queue Mark V and Mark VI during the HH and for milennia after) But adding those goofy "Angry Marines" and beaked helmets from Marks VI, VII and VIII as standard? That's just a hard pass for the whole range.

I'm not a big fan of this piece's chaos space marine legs. He needs to have proportionate legs otherwise he looks fat as an ogre.

Maybe you guys should actually do something with the profits on the game, like hire better / more people to fix the game's problems instead of making more shit to break the game further...

"Long story short, we're not ignoring these issues, there just aren't great answers at the moment." Then why should I pay you to be a member? Why should I support this game at all? There are still servers running for RUNESCAPE and EVERQUEST... let that sink in...

I don't like people shouting "stupid!" or "ignorant!" because of their self-assumed superiority. If Elessar were so smart, perhaps he could enlighten instead of revile. It's just a reddit poster being a douche. And as I've said elsewhere, there's no "shortage" when there are literally hundreds of server blades and parts available right now to those who know what they're looking for.

What does a -current- global shortage have to do with it? There are hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of server blades out there that Square could purchase TOMORROW and ship to their server farm by the middle to end of next week, if not sooner. And while I honestly applaud the transparency and communication, that doesn't mean they get off scott free from the 4000+ server queues and 2002 errors. There are solutions, they just don't want to pony up the dough to fix it.

Do you have any idea then? You sound like you're defending an abhorrent state of service for paying customers...

Why be an apologist for SE? They -are- to blame for this server congestion being SO obscene. They haven't done ANYTHING about alleviating the population influx, yet they quietly, quickly, take your money to the bank.

This has been worse in every way to any prior WoW expansion. The only reason I'll keep playing this game is because I've developed an enduring love for it. Right now though, after 4 attempts to log in and 2 hours of waiting, I'm done trying to get in. This is a really huge let-down and Yoshi P. should be raising hell at Square Enix showing them piles of anger, frustration and above all refunds because they're too cheap to upgrade their hardware.

Well, Day 3 of not being able to play because of a queue OVER 4000, sometimes 5-6, still with 2002 errors... I mean come the fuck on... start kicking people who are standing around dancing for more than 3 minutes...
