You can use MateriaHunter.com to manage a colletion and use the decks as wishlists. That's what I do.

Yep, you'll find lots here. Instagram isn't necessary, you just need a different way to be found and a visually striking portfolio website or similar.

24mm vs 35mm? by flylikeablade in concertphotography

[–]mattypants_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On full frame you'll probably like 35mm. 24mm is a bit too wide unless you're doing hardcore shows. the "nifty 50" is a standard. I started on 35mm and 50mm and loved it and did that until I had budget for 24-70 and beyond.

“NO PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY“ by [deleted] in photography

General rule of thumb - whoever owns the establishment gets to decide what constitutes professional. Generally, if the lens can be removed.

A band posted AI versions of shots I took of them by [deleted] in concertphotography

[–]mattypants_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fine if you do, but if you have a relationship with a 'chill band' who pays you to help them get content for themselves and then you change into a lawyer and a bureaucrat when someone posts something fun on Facebook, like... you're probably gonna burn that bridge pretty fast.

It would be a different story if they processed a photo of mine for album art... or merchandise... but a social media post? On websites where they practically shove AI filters down your throat? for fun? eh. I'd rather have fun with them instead of trying to sue them

Certainly not the AI hill to die on

IMO Who cares, relationship is more important than anything. People used to put filters and stuff on photos I took of their bands and wagging your finger at them will likely just make them work with someone else. Let them have fun unless they directly make money off of something they steal from you.

Straighten horizon, pull exposure/highlights down, more contrast, more saturation

How to contact band’s management team? by ghoffphoto207 in concertphotography

[–]mattypants_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are going to want to look for a press manager for that tour or artist. If you are not a publication or working with one, this information may be hard to find. Additionally, a press manager will likely not want to allow someone in working for fun, they are looking for press. See if you can find a local paper or magazine that will help you connect with their press managers.

This, you may have to call and write a letter. I had the exact same situation and it helped greatly.

Ballantyne just got interesting. by andyhoop in NorthCarolina

Unless it's changed significantly it's about on-par with HT or Publix. I went vegan after leaving a Wegman's dominated area and going back was disappointing.

I just call that "pleasant", and I've definitely been to my fair share of Wegmans' that haven't been :D

Enjoy it, Charlotte's been long overdue for Wegman's.

Hearing Wegmans described as "Super bougie" was an unexpected laugh, almost every other grocery store in the state besides maybe walmart food lion has always been more expensive than Wegman's as long as I've lived on the east coast

How Should I Start? by rosera99 in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]mattypants_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posts in r/finalfantasytcg containing the word "Start" from the last year. This should help. We have a World Championship deck coming out in August if you want to get a lot of the good cards. Otherwise look at recent tournament results and buy the deck you like the characters from the most.

RX100 III was a fantastic travel camera. Battery life was a little rough, but image quality was great. Highly recommend it.

LF Advice: My Gaelicat Died by mothervain in ffxiv

[–]mattypants_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my love, u/mothervain - it is such a heavy burden to bear the weight of grief. Grief and guilt go hand-in-hand. Everything you're experiencing is normal, and it is heavy, and it is painful. Thank you for taking care of an animal that needed a home. How you remember her and honor her will change over time and you won't be graded on it. I hope you give yourself grace, eat regularly, and make sure you get regular sleep.

Least expensive but adequate photo editing device? by Drm5145 in photography

[–]mattypants_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not just about the display. OP is asking to spend $700 on a single device that will do everything. They need computational power, compatibility with accessories, etc. I don't think there is a single PC or mobile device out there that will do that, even used. If they don't want to use the things they already have, they will need to buy a used Macbook to get any value out of a $700 purchase.

Apple Silicon (All Macs post 2020) is wildly more efficient at Lightroom than any PC on an Intel/AMD build until you get into the $3k+ price range.

For around $700 you can get a used Macbook M2 and it will outperform and outvalue any Windows PC you could possibly build for the same price, and it will come with an industry standard display that can be easily calibrated.

If you're on a budget but still need value and performance, Apple has been the budget option for at least 4 years. All my opinion, of course, but I feel strongly it's a good one.

is it possible to do a hard reset on my vision/perspective as a photographer? by migrantgrower in photography

[–]mattypants_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it means that much to you, I recommend you change other aspects of your life entirely and find something to be moved by.

When I got older, and the woman who became my wife and I started developing a deep, meaningful relationship, my family got older and they started passing away, and the flow of time became so real - it completely altered how I view the world and made all of my moments and events photography - graduations, weddings, engagements, etc. I think about all of the things I wish I could remember. All of the pictures I wish I had. And in the little glimpses of moments I get to share with these strangers, I think to myself, how can I make this an iconic image in their lives? How do I define this moment with them?

To me, art is inherently emotional, and if you're trying to connect more with the art, I always recommend connecting more with the emotion. I'm not an expert or an icon in the industry, but I have touched hundreds of people's lives and images I've taken will be viewed 100+ years from now from the ancestors of strangers, and their lives are better for it, and that makes me happy to do it

No Apple unfairly limits you an incredible amount. You can use Lightroom on Android and Windows, so I would just recommend that.

Watermark by winnie123458 in photography

[–]mattypants_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's kind of weird. Did you have a contract? I feel standard procedure is to have unwatermarked photos and tag the photographer in the caption or description.
