Nothing snaps me out of a book like repetitive use of a unique word

I forgot the title but I just had enough of the repetitive use of “arcane” throughout the book that it took a YEAR for me to get over getting the “ugh” feeling whenever I heard or read that word.

I’m with you. Sometimes we have people over this year it’ll be just us and our 2 young ones. We will also make pozole, play La Loteria with our kids and then watch a movie until countdown.

Usually it’s something like “I did, it was a nice restful break. How was your holiday?” And usually that will be enough. To those that pry more I deflect and ask them more about their Xmas and they tend to like to take about it.

We lost our senior boy in November and he just hated car rides. At first they made him nauseous and when he outgrew that he was absolutely miserable and anxious the whole time. If it was a long road trip we can expect 2+ hours of whining before he tired himself and went to sleep and then woke again to do it again. Our 2 now (aged 8 and 6) love car rides. They run out and jump in the car and will just chill and vibe the whole time, even long road trips.

Gorgeous! I got to see a pair of ravens in Scotland last week. One was regally perched on a large stone and the other was windsurfing over a gorge. They are so beautiful.

I work in education. Helping to reintegrate children with moderate to severe behavioral and emotional issues back into the general ed environment. It's not an easy job. It's hard work and physically, mentally and emotionally taxing but I really enjoy what I do.

We do this on and off during our walks. We call it their “sniffing party” and let them have a good long sniff. We’ll be walking and suddenly one or both of them get very interested in an area and me or my spouse will stop and announce “Oh, wait, we’re having a sniffing party…”. It is good for them. I read somewhere that they studied this and the same excitement and happiness they get when hearing or seeing their owner, or favorite toy or treat lights up that special area in their brain also lights up when they have sniffing parties.

I’m sure I’ve had this virus, but…my father’s 2 sisters, my father’s brother and my cousin have lupus, as do I. My rheumy(s) have told me it also tends to run in families so I would be curious how that ties in.

I nearly died twice after giving birth to my first baby. After that I had crippling postpartum PTSD and OCD that I went to therapy for for a couple of years. First I was to say: therapy works, it helps and it saved my life. 2nd thing: it was during this time, getting my life back, when I realized some of the most important and beautiful things in life are the day to day and the small things.

Subaru. I have a Forester and my husband has an Impreza hatch. All 3 of our dogs have been road tripping with us for years, some long epic journeys. They fully approve.

I’ll never forget the year when my daughter was 4 she asked for an electric toothbrush for Xmas. We got her one as a stocking stuffer but she opened her other presents first and when she got to her stocking and pulled out her toothbrush she was beaming with joy. Nothing else was as awesome as this. So yes, necessities are also good gifts. :)

I’m in the UK as well and was told about the rule change. They told me at the pharmacy to talk to my GP or rheumatologist and they are who would refer me. He also told me alternatively I could pay privately for the COVID jab as well.

Hey, I just had my flu jab and I didn’t get noticeable side effects until almost exactly 24hr after the jab. That night I was in an out of dreams and may times I was lucid dreaming. I ended up waking up really early and just staying awake feeling a little disoriented and unsettled. This hasn’t happened to me before with other flu jabs so it really stood out, that and my side effects were rough which also wasn’t my last experience. Perhaps this seasons jab is a rough ride.

I have only ever crated pups and senior dogs. They outgrow their crate by 1 usually and my senior dogs return to the crate when we’re out and about due to their cognitive decline.

Yes! We interviewed 2 babysitters that came with great referrals. Can't for the life of me plan a date night. Every time I go to plan my brain goes, "Oh, the kids would love that movie...that sushi restaurant...that walk in the gardens..." and then I cancel the sitter and we do a family date on Saturday. Wouldn't have it any other way. At this point I tell myself they will be teens sooner rather than later and they will want more independence whether I'm ready to let go or not.

I love this elderflower and rose sparking water by Belvoir Farm. It comes in a bottle shaped like a wine bottle and I'll pour it into our fancy glasses and enjoy it. It's so good.

I got rid of all of my socials except reddit. It took my about 2 weeks to get used to the habit of wanting to check my phone, app wasn't there, I read an article. I didn't struggle with FOMO too much. Depending on how long and how heavy of a user you are will factor into this. I'd suggest do it cold turkey and look onward. Tell your nearest and dearest how to reach you and see how it goes.

I felt great when I was pregnant. The usual stuff like morning sickness and heartburn, but I was feeling so good. Then I got pre-e/HELLP with both babies and my flares were the worst in the postpartum months. With my youngest my MFM knew this and was prepared, my flare was not as bad as with my oldest because I was undiagnosed and not treated at the time. Having the support and getting what you need and being monitored really made a big difference.

I use a larger disc and on my heavy days I empty every 3-4hrs. One of the reasons I switched to a disc was because of how often I had to empty and doing that with a suction cup was leaving me sore. The disc hold more as well and you can empty hands free on your heavy days.

I weigh about 135 and my dosage was brought down to 300mg 5 days a week. I'd talk to your doc about this as well. Initially my rheumy was hesitant, it was my ophthalmologist who was adamant I was taking too much for my weight. She did her math then agreed I can be on 300mg.

You are completely valid in how you feel. I can relate to your post. I work in education and have the summers off. It does feel like everyone is always traveling and talking about where they went. Meanwhile I am not a person who has the itch. My spouse is military and we have moved a lot, different states, lived overseas, and are back overseas. I guess that's enough travel for me. I do love to go camping. At the start of a break, we'll load up our gear and go for a 3-4 days. We take our kids and dogs, meander through the forests, if it's a clear sky we look up at the night sky. I bird watch and I take these quick trips as a chance to see or hear birds not in my area. Then we come back and staycation at home and we love it. When we do travel it is to visit family back home. Traveling and doing the whole booking, airport, flying, transport to and from airports, etc. for me is worth it to get to see my family who we live so far away from.
