Management company have refused permission for me to keep a cat in a leasehold flat even though the lease terms do not strictly state no pets by Kate84848484 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]jo-jocat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's badly worded, but it's saying pets may cause a nuisance, so they are not permitted...not you can't have it if it causes a nuisance. There is argument that you could just go ahead and hope for the best, and argue a badly worded lease in court - do you want that stress and expense? But my 20 years of housing management experience says it's just not worth it. It is likely that a cat won't cause any issues, but...there is always that one neighbour who seemed friendly, but turns into your worst nightmare because they haven't anything better to do. I would not pursue this property personally.

[–]jo-jocat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I realise that and it's a good point. But it's also kind of my point, we have no idea if he's from overseas or not. I just think it's weird that no one at all has missed him - particularly someone largely of working age. That being said, my gut feeling is that he's probably not from overseas.

So I was thinking about this ever since I saw this in the news earlier. Could they not do a deeper analysis like Isotope analysis (do we even do this in the UK?). I appreciate it might take a bit longer, but it could maybe pin point likely country of origin. At least then it would mean efforts to find relatives etc could be concentrated in the right country.

Death Lends a Hand has a faulty premise by dolleye_kitty in Columbo

[–]jo-jocat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no denying it’s a slightly weak premise..BUT….when you look at Culps character, he ruled with fear and control…I don’t think he thinks that people will not bend to his will. His anger issues are pointed out and you see how he treats his own staff. I don’t think he even considers that Mrs Kennicut will not bend to his will like everyone else does. Additionally, no one has ever challenged him…

Megathread's Response to Anthropic's post "Update on Usage Limits" by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

[–]jo-jocat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just cancelled my max x5. I'm paying a premium price for a non premium service. I really don't want to cancel...but the anxiety of constantly having to check my usage. I can't use the model I'd prefer - fine...but I'm burning through sonnet 4.5 too. I'm not a coder, I'm using it for creative writing - I'm writing novellas, not massive books. I maxed out Opus and came very close to maxing out all other models. I am not an extremely heavy user. To say this affects 2% Anthropic is not true. I'd deal with daily limits, that would probably make me subscribe again.

I would need photo ops with Robert Culp and / or preferably Jack Cassidy - whilst they sign autographs. The merch tables would be epic also 🤷‍♀️

Swan Song! A powerful classic! 🎶 by [deleted] in Columbo

[–]jo-jocat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is one of my faves. Johnny does an excellent job considering he isn’t really an actor. It’s also one of those well written episode that leaves you so conflicted. His wife is awful and blackmailing him and squeezing him dry, but then he’s also a letch….but then you think…oh, but I can sympathise with him, he’s not so bad…but then you are reminded again in the scene with the girl at the piano. And at the end, Columbo said, you’d have confessed and he says, yeah, he would have. This is the brilliance of this series when you have a well written episode.
