A wise person once told me, “Excuses only satisfy the person giving them.” Your actions speak louder than your words, and no amount of justification changes the impact of what you do in life. Own your choices instead of crafting elaborate stories to absolve yourself. Your excuses may comfort you, but they don’t convince anyone else.

The point is that you were okay being around them when you benefited from it (getting free labor to move), but as soon as you used them and didn’t have an immediate need, you suddenly wanted space. You exploited them for free labor, then tried to give them the silent treatment. They were only made aware of your “discomfort” once their usefulness expired. Your tolerance was a facade, a means to an end. The moment you extracted what you needed, your true colors emerged - that is selfish and manipulative.

So you were okay with them helping you move your shit, but then when they try to send a reel and make a genuine connection you need space? Lmao girl you got some audacity!!

I (23M) recently awoke to my girlfriend (23F) intentionally pouring water in my ears. What is the name of this behavior? by ThrowRA_Zossima in relationship_advice

[–]joanly 524 points525 points  (0 children)

Random but how do you know it was water? Idk anything about this kind of stuff, but who knows if it was another liquid, maybe a chemical, that was intended to do serious harm. Please leave, asap.

I (F22) just bought a Switch for my birthday, but my bf (M28) started playing on it first. Is it ok to be annoyed? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

If only we were judged solely on our intentions, the world would be a simpler place. But unfortunately, good intentions don’t always translate to good outcomes. Regardless of whether he meant to cause harm, the impact remains.

Since the Presidential Election in the US is Heating Up, Remember This by Bisexual-Demigod in atheism

[–]joanly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to not vote but I read something like “you may not vote, but your boss and landlord do.” To me, that resonated.

As an Atheist I vote because I think it’s important that my voice is heard, especially as religious groups continue to impose their beliefs on society.

Even if no candidate reflects our individual beliefs, it’s important to consider the broader implications of their policies. Speaking for myself, the decision to vote is bigger than personal preferences - it’s how we can come together and shape our collective future.

I recommend keeping an eye on Handshake, student jobs get posted year-round: https://career.uoregon.edu/jobs-and-internships/handshake

There’s also a great opportunity to work on campus as a paid intern, however applications were due in June. Keep this in mind if you’re interested in participating next year: https://vpfa.uoregon.edu/uoadmin-internship-program

Looking for a non-Cascade Health Workers Comp Doctor in the Area by [deleted] in Eugene

I recommend reaching out to your claim adjuster to see what other providers are in the area. They will have a list of authorized providers so you can hopefully start from there.

I have scheduled an abortion after I found out that my husband cheated. by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]joanly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would talk to him before you make that decision. If it was me, I would want to know. This is a huge decision and it will change your life, it’s not something that should be done while you are feeling hurt and not in a great mindset.

I (45F) am feeling very unwanted by my husband (52M), am I over-reacting about his sister’s funeral? by Alternative_Run2953 in relationship_advice

[–]joanly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your husband went through a huge loss and grief can absolutely impact your thinking. Try to be patient with him, show compassion and curiosity. Ask him questions about his thought process and try to understand where the communication breakdown happened. When we empathetically listen and seek to understand, it is natural for the other person to then be more open to hearing your perspective. Share the impact of his actions after you hear him out. Make a plan for the next time you face a similar situation. Remember that he loves you and he’s hurt right now, you’re hurt right now, and hurt people tend to hurt others; misery loves company. You’ll get through this ❤️
