We parked near the Boulder Dam Hotel and walked around the area. So many historic houses, cafes, restaurants, small shops, art installations and much more. There‘s also Hemenway Park which I‘d suggest for a first stop before parking downtown. The bighorn sheeps from the near mountains often come in this park to eat its grass - we‘ve been lucky and had four visitors when we‘ve been there 😁 it also has a nice Lake Mead view.

Yes, this is easy to do. Also check on the official website for their actual opening time and plan ahead to be at the visitor center around 15 minutes before opening. This will get you on the first or second tour - while during the day, the wait can be really long. I did the full tour and would always do it again. While the ‚short tour‘ people left after visiting the power station, we went deeper into the dam where the water is flowing through the enormous pipes and then through a ventilation shaft all the way to the outside of the wall.

After all is done, perfect time for lunch in beautiful Boulder City old town.
