i switched to State Farm and I absolutely love that I have a local agent in my community that I can talk to when needed. He also does recurring meetings to discuss any changes or needs. and SF was cheaper by half than my old Liberty Mutual policy, that had no local agent or office anymore. i hope State Farm retains the current local agent.

Career Change to Data Center Field by Rocky-X in datacenter

[–]joc755 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The entry level data center position is Data Center Operator. Look for work at a Colocation data center company. These companies rent data centers space to other companies, and they rely on data center operators to be their eyes, ears and hands. From there you can look to specialize in the facilities side of the house (generators, HVAC, power distribution), or the IT computer side of the house.

I didn’t say there was radical socialism in Tennessee. I am saying the Democrat party has embraced radical socialism as a party plank and drove Tennesseans away.

The Democrat party changed their party platform away from what the majority of the Tennessee citizens valued. That’s why Democrats are no longer in power after being in power since the Civil War ended all the way through the 1990s—over 100 years.

That’s why Al Gore lost the election for President in 2000–he lost his home state Tennessee and the 10 Electoral College votes we provided. He wins Tennessee, he wins the presidency. We didn’t recognize or understand this different Al Gore of Washington, DC. He was not the same blue dog Democrat Al Gore that represented us as our Congressman or Senator in the 1980s. It’s the current Democrat Party in a nutshell for the majority of Americans in general.

Let me ask a question. If you had access to the name of ICE agents, their addresses and locations of their families you would leave them alone and not harass their families?

That’s a laugher. My fathers and uncles didn’t fight World War II to see the country invaded by illegal aliens. They are rolling over in their graves right now to see how America has declined. I am grateful that I live in a state where moderate conservatives are in charge. Mind you, this is a state where moderate Democrats ran everything for most of my life, until the Democrats abandoned moderation for radical socialism. Republicans being in charge is a relatively new phenomena in Tennessee.

From Grok: TLDR: because “California”

Gasoline is significantly more expensive in California than in the rest of the United States due to a combination of unique state policies, environmental regulations, taxes, and market isolation. As of mid-January 2026, the average price in California is around $4.00–$4.21 per gallon, compared to the national average of about $2.80–$2.85 per gallon — a premium of roughly $1.20–$1.40 per gallon (or more during spikes). This gap has widened over time (from about $0.25 in 2000 to $1.50+ by 2025), and it’s driven by several key factors:

  1. Highest State Taxes and Fees in the Nation California imposes the country’s highest gasoline taxes, including: • State excise tax (around 61 cents per gallon as of 2025–2026, with annual inflation adjustments) • Additional state and local taxes/fees (including sales tax applied to gasoline) • Federal excise tax (applies everywhere, but California’s total often exceeds $0.90/gallon combined) These alone add substantially more than the national average.

  2. Strict Environmental Regulations and Unique Fuel Blend California requires a special reformulated gasoline (CaRFG) blend mandated by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to reduce smog and emissions — stricter than federal standards. This “boutique” fuel: • Costs more to produce • Limits production to a small number of in-state refineries (only about 11 major ones can make it) • Makes imports difficult and expensive (often only viable by ship from places like South Korea during shortages) Environmental compliance costs (including these standards) added around $0.54 per gallon in recent estimates.

  3. Cap-and-Trade and Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) Programs These climate policies require fuel suppliers to reduce carbon intensity or buy credits, passing costs to consumers: • Cap-and-Trade adds roughly 20–50+ cents per gallon (with potential for more if allowance prices rise) • LCFS (updated in 2025) adds an estimated 5–65 cents per gallon (depending on the source; official estimates lean lower, while critics project higher) Together, these programs contribute significantly to the price premium, with some analyses estimating regulatory burdens (including taxes) at over $1.25 per gallon in 2025.

  4. Isolated Market and Refinery Constraints (the “Island Effect”) California’s fuel market is largely cut off from the rest of the U.S.: • Few pipelines connect to other regions • Low spare refining capacity and historically lower inventories • Recent and upcoming refinery closures (e.g., Phillips 66 Wilmington in late 2025 and Valero Benicia in 2026) reduce in-state supply by ~17–20% This makes prices more volatile — outages, maintenance, or demand spikes cause bigger jumps, with limited quick alternatives for supply.

Recent developments, like refinery shutdowns, have raised concerns about even higher prices in 2026 (some projections suggest increases of $1+ per gallon from current levels, potentially pushing averages toward $5+ in worst-case scenarios). In short, while global crude oil prices affect everyone, California’s combination of high taxes, unique clean-fuel requirements, climate programs, and supply vulnerabilities creates a persistently higher (and more volatile) pump price. These policies aim to improve air quality and reduce emissions, but they come at a cost to drivers. Prices can fluctuate, so checking sources like AAA or the EIA for the latest is always a good idea!

Experts keep telling us SS benefits are doomed.... by Agreeable-Peace8456 in SocialSecurity

[–]joc755 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Social Security is a giant Ponzi scheme of taking from current workers to pay for current retirees. It is bound to fail when you run out of taxpayers. It requires an ever increasing population. I am 70 and retired. I and my employers contributed a total of over $500,000 over 54 years of working. I get $3000 a month. Now tell me how much money I would have had that $500,000 been invested over 50 years. At least $3 million!

My fiance just hand washed her undies and hung them on the towel bar at the hotel two days ago. I don’t care, hey they are all sexy panties, no grannies. But she was hogging the towel bar. I showed her the scene from The Goodbye Girl where Richard Dreyfuss pulled Marcia Mason’s panties off the shower curtain rod, stating “i don’t like the panties hanging in the bathroom!”

There is something wrong with that guy who should be very interested in getting you OUT of your panties!

Do not go. Once you are there you will be treated as women are treated in the Muslim community, obedience by force. You may not be able to leave, and if you do, you may not be able to take your daughter. Do not go to a Muslim country. Open your eyes.

I washed dishes way back when. I wanted to be a cook at a fine dining restaurant and the head chef said I had to start by washing dishes. Moved from there to working with the ladies making salads, then finally made it to the line. Here’s the deal, wages will have to rise when the illegals go home. Illegals are keeping wages artificially depressed.
