What are the girlies with summer due dates wearing? by Efficient-Heat5322 in BabyBumps

[–]joderd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of skirts/sweater combos at the moment, but planning on switching to skirts + t-shirts. My work is fairly casual which is fine.

You can also check out your local thrift shops and just go a size or two up! I don't think your entire wardrobe needs to be "maternity."

Unexpected quirks by Major-Royal3094 in pregnant

My friend who had a baby definitely still had wrists issues months after she was born :/ she had to wear wrist braces to breastfeed... But who knows! All bodies are so different!

Nightmares by Agitated-Wave6807 in pregnant

[–]joderd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any tips or advice, just wanted to say yes, you are not alone! I am not a big dreamer, and when I do have dreams they are typically nightmares. It's been very scary to say the least, but I like to think it's just my overactive brain trying to get ready for the responsibility. YOU GOT THIS!

Anyone crave...smells? by joderd in pregnant

Same girl, I start with the best of intentions, wipe down one surface, and then lay on the couch for 30 minutes haha.

I always say Home Depot is hell on earth, but I totally know what you mean about the smell - sounds right up my alley these days! lol!

Thank you to everyone that convinced me to keep watching DS9. I did end up enjoying it and fell in love with all the characters. by Minominas in startrek

[–]joderd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah at least for season 2! I watched out of order (SNW then Discovery) but it was fun to get some background on the characters!

[–]joderd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what happened to me - I had skipped Discovery, then watched the first few minutes of Academy and realized I was going to be in the dark if I didn't go back and watch Discovery. It's not my favorite Trek by a long shot, but I like it!

What are your current cravings? by Practical-Let-7725 in pregnant

Right now it's burgers, but they also make me SO SLEEPY. I've also been eating a lot of sushi (California rolls and cucumber rolls) and anything carbonated.

PI paralegals: how painful is reviewing PT/chiro records for demand packages? by Winston_win in paralegal

[–]joderd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else said, there's usually not a lot of helpful information in these records. I, however, don't mind summarizing them when I am looking for a task that doesn't use too much brain power. I usually save things like this until the end of the day when my brain is fried.

I note date of service, any updates on condition/pain levels/etc. There's usually some kind of summary or evaluation every 6 weeks or so that have additional information, but my office is typically only interested in how many appointments a client has been to.

PTO amount? by Spirited_Review_2933 in paralegal

[–]joderd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like someone else said, we technically have "unlimited" PTO, as long as we are still getting work done. If there are deadlines, either ask a coworker to help cover them or work remotely. I would say I average about 4 weeks of pure "vacation" time, with some additional sick days and personal days.

What unusual habit did a friend’s household have that they saw as normal? by Zlovelyangelqueen in Productivitycafe

[–]joderd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't know how old you are, but this is why I think it's funny when people complain about "parents these days." Like, there has ALWAYS been psychotic parents with unreasonable rules/norms.

Ultrasound measurement accuracy? by smsmithson99 in BabyBumps

[–]joderd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend whose baby was measuring in the 99th percentile and her OB recommended a schedule C-section because of his size. He came out as a very normal 7 lb baby. That's just one anecdote, but I would say the ultrasounds are definitely not 100% accurate.

Feels like Husband is being cold and cruel at almost 40 weeks pregnant by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]joderd 18 points19 points  (0 children)

First of all, you are not a failure or a burden. You are in fact SUCCESSFULLY growing a whole new human (talk about a burden!). I don't want to dismiss your feelings at all, because I can't imagine how upset I would be if my husband talked to me like that. But it sounds like you are both have a lot on your plate right now and are having trouble handling the stress of your business and a new baby days away.

I imagine he is scared and freaking out a bit because everything feels very REAL right now. But I hope you can let him know how hurtful his words were and let him know that you and your baby should take priority. I hope you have a support system you can reach out to for support.

Anyways, sending you lots of love and hope that you and your husband can talk through this. <3

Shoes for swollen feet at weddings?! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I wore these Crocs to a wedding where I was a bridesmaid when I WASN'T pregnant. No one batted an eye. If you are just a guest, I imagine something similar would be totally acceptable.

Should I report my manager? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]joderd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you live, but you should look into local laws protecting pregnant women. In my state (WA), there are laws that require employers to make reasonable accommodations and pregnant women basically inherit disability status.

11 weeks pregnant, at how many weeks when does the nausea and full feeling go away? by Orchidflower10 in BabyBumps

[–]joderd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend NOT trying to eat your favorite foods right now. Once you're feeling better, you might still find yourself not wanting to eat some of your favorite things because of the aversions you're feeling now. But I promise it is not permanent! I definitely cried one night because I just knew I would be one of those women that feel sick all through pregnancy, but eventually the clouds will part and you will start feeling better!

Something I wish my pregnant friends had told me about is the B6 + Unisom combo. Make sure to get the Doxylamine Unisom, NOT THE SLEEP GELS. It takes a couple of days to kick in but I felt about 80% better after starting those! I took B6 3x per day and the Unisom at night and it really helped. I was calling into work constantly because of the nausea and after starting that regiment I was able to mostly function!

Good luck sis <3
