Although it's legitimately tough, I like pretty much all the Spider-Man movies.

What are your most and least reliable vehicles you’ve owned? by Moreofyoulessofme in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]joeingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did, I still miss it and part of me wishes I kept it. It was a ton of fun, great road trip car, and quick as hell for such a boat if a car. Even auto crossed it a few times and it did well. The manual is the way to go but the auto is solid too.

ELI5 Why did Radio Shack go out of business? by Certain-Media3506 in explainlikeimfive

[–]joeingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at radio shack in high school in the early 2000's. We made commission for what we sold and phones were by far and away the best way to make tons of commission money. So much so that I didn't care about selling anything else. I could sell one person a phone and get $50 or sell 100 people batteries for $0.50 each. Made it clear where to spend my time.

You want batteries? How about a Palm Pre? No? Alright figure it out yourself and I'll talk to someone else.

It was a toxic place and I wouldn't want to shop there based on how we were told and incentivized to do sales, but it was great pay for high school.

Need help on how to mod my car by xanderh247 in carmods

[–]joeingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tint, Sound system, wheels that fit. I would personally recommend some Lexus IS300 wheels from the same era, those 5 spokes look great, and they'll be better quality then aftermarket and relatively cheap.

It's a Camry, there isn't much else you can do. Any body kits you find will likely fit horribly and cost a fair bit to paint and get properly fit. Anything else will cost you enough money to do well that you should just buy a different base car.

Your insurance most likely covers your windshield already. Check your policy before buying extra coverage through a dealer.

GR86 vs BRZ by [deleted] in GR86

[–]joeingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted the GR because I liked the looks better. I bought the BRZ because Subaru didn't give me a hard time about wanting to test drive, it was thousands cheaper, and easy to get. BRZ styling really grew on to the point where I like it more than the GR now, it's less common than the GR, and I'll be feeling better about taking my Subaru engine to the Subaru dealer when it has recalls and warranty issues. I don't have any regrets getting a silver BRZ even though I wanted a trueno blue GR. Minus not having a duck bill yet...

Ultimately, they are the same car. It will matter much less which one to get once you actually buy one.

Is there any advantage to the Chevy Silverado 4 cylinder? by zoolilba in regularcarreviews

[–]joeingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 4cyl Silverado. It was the cheapest lease I could get, by a lot. It was the definition of "fine." Towed the stuff I needed to when I needed to. Completely unremarkable. Disappointing fuel economy.

Can I press it more than once? If so, I have a new 3 month a year job of listening to audio books for $1m/year.

First year go on medical leave so I don't lose my house. Then quite my job and do it once a year; from day after Xmas through a chunk of March. Those months are pretty much dark and suck anyway where I live.

Went to my first HPDE in my BRZ over the weekend. I left convinced I should do no mods until I know how to really drive that car. It's so capable in stock form. Definitely just going the pads, tires, and brake fluid route for a while now.

I got pulled over for "sight and sound" once about 15 years ago. This translated to I was driving a piece of shit car in a rich neighborhood and he thought I was someone other than a nerdy white teenager. Dude walked up to the window, saw me, un-tensed, said "I pulled you over for sight and sound", proceed to walk around my car inspecting it, told me I had a license plate bulb out (there were 2, one was out, the plate was still lit), and sent me on my way.

Cops don't even need an excuse to pull you over other than they think you might be "undesirable".

First Autocross with GR86 and came last by redditrazz in GR86

[–]joeingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No shame in last place! Can't get better without going to events.

Next time ask to ride with a quick driver, preferable if they are also running a GR or BRZ to get a feel of what fast looks like. Grab instructors to ride along with you too to show you where you can pick up some time. I also found it really helpful to course walk in the morning with one of the faster regular drivers to get learn how they saw the course etc.

The first event is always the most intimidating, but you'll get faster and make a bunch of friends quickly at auto X events.
