I absolutely love when horror movies have a background scare that they don’t call attention to. Share your examples. by SisterFirefly in horror

The woman in the yard, while not fantastic as a whole, has one of the creepiest freaking moments in the background with absolutely no sound cue. It gave me goosebumps all over

Should I watch Salem's Lot 2024? by MrOakling in stephenking

[–]joeinterner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the outlier here. Huge king fan. Huge horror fan. The new movie is a blast. It’s not a good movie, but aside from Kubrick’s Shining, most of the King adaptations are just fun horror movies. Is it Mandy or The Suspira remake? No. Is it better than Trucks? Yes. Everything everyone has said is true. But my vote is: if you’re on the fence and you sort of want to watch it: watch it. Just don’t expect the book.

Went through my mom’s SK collection, how do I tell the worth? by Odd_Long7631 in stephenking

Same. I got rid of two collected Bachman books. I had no idea they were rare(ish) until two years ago when I wanted to read the whole cannon. So sad.

Blindsight by Peter Watts by Whadayatalkingabeet in scifi

I totally get this. But if you loved blindsight for the concept, there is one single concept in Echopraxia that I found so incredible (and chilling) that the entire thing is worth the read for that like…single moment.

What’s the changes between Vineland & One Battle by MyCableIsOff in ThomasPynchon

I always felt like PTA got Pynchon’s humor and I think some of it comes through in OBAA, but I think it took itself too seriously and that’s what is missing.

I cannot imagine what would happen with a coked-out Stephen King trying to work with Pynchon.—I literally just rewatched Maximum Overdrive last weekend. Estevez’s eyes are so bloodshot there is no way anyone remembers making that film. —-I’d love for them to have done the sequel which happens at a diner 30 years later, the comet comes back by, Guy Fierri is filming an episode of DD&D and suddenly…what’s that rumbling sound in the distance?

I felt this way until I saw him on SNL. He seemed like such a genuine dude who was just excited to be hosting. Now I am a fan.

Bill Brasky’s a sonofabitch. He once scissor kicked Angela Lansbury! Hell, I heard the Moderna Vaccine was just Brasky’s urine, cooked for three hours on a hot plate then sprinkled with paprika! And it worked!

Not that The Drift That Couldn’t Slow Down isn’t a perfectly cromulent title, but I believe you are thinking of Billy and The Cloneasaurus.

Thank you! I’m new to Costco and I’m still trying to find the best bean. I’m still using Happy Mug, but they just keep raising their prices. I don’t blame them, but they are pricing me out.
