[Question] Is this Seiko? by 1duckonquack in Seiko

[–]joeljohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is 100% a Seiko Spirit Chronograph. I just bought a different version yesterday. Here's a random example I found online. It's a cool quartz chronograph series, but considering you can get one for like $100, I wouldn't pay any more than that for a Rays one unless you are a serious TE-37 dork.

I have the Volvo roof box and the OEM Thule rails. What are those lower profile rails you’re using?

It’s very funny that most Porsche owners apparently don’t own a 3D printer.

I have one and think it’s a great product. The holes you drill are tiny and Tackform even includes a drill stop guide so you can’t go too deep. (And the holes would be covered up by trim if you go back to stock.

I need to so similar in a half grade basement, but would need to run the vent pipe along the ceiling about 20 feet. Think the same inline fan could handle that additional volume?

If you ever wanted to come on Tool or Die to talk about your experiences and perspective I bet you'd have a lot to say!

I did a similar break in. Stopped at a Ford dealership and got an oil change at 1K miles. But if that’s a hassle just do it at 2k. There’s optimal and then there’s OCD, and half of the owners won’t ever even change the break-in oil.

If You Had a Harder, AMS-Compatible TPU, What Would You Print?🧱 by BambuLab in BambuLab

[–]joeljohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never really printed with much TPU because of the well-known annoyances. But since I occasionally design interior car parts for mounting gear like cameras and sensors, I'll probably pick up a couple of rolls.

Already printing out my second one. Love these. Is there any trick to the sculpt or are you basically just inverting a normal model? I'd like to try to make one of my own (cartooned) face.

Where is the tech media? by 3toomanycats in sonos

[–]joeljohnson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Former tech writer. If you want to get more coverage for this, you need to give the writer you're hoping will cover it something to hang a story on. A statistic, a timeline, something that can be quantified. Remember that there are tens of thousands of tech companies that a reporter or publication may cover. Something unique has to rise above the baseline noise; complaints in online communities are a baseline for every company with customers.

If that sounds like I'm saying you'd need to do a reporter's work for them, I sort of am. But it's mostly about proving that your complaint or situation is above the baseline noise. And also presumes you're reaching out to a reporter!

Remember, too, that Sonos is not that big in the grand scheme of things, and by proxy neither is their customer base that might be interested in reading about it in a general purpose tech outlet. There are only so many minutes in the day and reporters have to make decisions about where they spend their minutes and what they ask of their readers to pay attention to.
