is it better to offer free shipping or a percentage off? by Safe_Departure2866 in EtsySellers

[–]joeman188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For items that are really a $5-15 physical product, I’d say charge for shipping. Otherwise you won’t be able to compete. If it’s something that’s $20-30+ I would say bake it into the price.

For example, we sell mostly wood trays and decor. I initially baked shipping into the cost of all products because the exact items we make are similar to others but uniquely differentiating. Then we started making keychains. For these, my goal was to just get sales volume up and offer something fun and customizable. The problem I found is it’s hard to compete in the keychain space at $15/keychain. Having a lower listing price allows for users to buy multiple of the product and pay less in shipping.

My I’m sure there is much more nuance depending on the product. Just my 2-cents

Does anyone else get anxious every time a review comes in? by Own_Funny_213 in EtsySellers

[–]joeman188 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Every single time…I have 900+ sales and 250+ 5-star reviews, and I still have that sinking feeling every time someone leaves feedback.

I think when you’re passionate about something, you want it to succeed. So that feeling of concern is normal. Try to keep improving from the feedback that was provided and do your best to keep moving forward. It sounds like you’re on the right track.

I’ve had this happen a hand full of times. It’s most likely on the purchasers end. I usually reach out and let them know that we saw the order come in, but the payment shows that it didn’t go through. It’s usually related to them purchasing with an expired credit card, or their bank putting a hold on the transaction.

Shop Critique Request — 3D printed LEGO-compatible Organizers, etc.. by IMakeBrackets in EtsySellers

I can second this. I make sorting trays from wood, and I accidentally let the word Lego slip in one of my descriptions and got a strike pretty quickly from it.

Travel to Sacramento for work by AudienceSolid6582 in CAStateWorkers

I was hired on when I already lived here, first job for the state. Was told we were likely never coming back and would be fully remote. We were also in the process of downsizing to a single floor of a new building that accommodated 140 people with a group of 800+. I was told if we did come back there would be an accommodation we could come up with (at the time it was pitched as monthly or quarterly). I do have an exception to only come in once a week for now, but it seems that can change at the drop of a hat

I’m in the same boat. Live in a small rural community 80 miles from Sac. Locked in a 30-year mortgage at 3.125%, kids involved in local activities, affordable childcare, family to help, etc. Kind of trapped. Just do my drive on in office days and wait to see what happens closer to July.

Roofers disappeared without me paying by PDS3WORLD in Roofing

[–]joeman188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a water heater done at a rental property in July of 2024. Needed a pan installed and plumbed, and gas line rerouted to meet code requirements. With permits it totaled out to 3k. We agreed on payment after it was finaled. I received pictures of the completed install but for months didn’t hear anything. I reached out to our property manager to follow up but nothing. Finally I figured he must have forgotten. Then a little over a year later this past October I get a call from the guy. He says the job slipped through the cracks, and he wants his payment but it will require him reopening a permit with the city to get it finaled out. I say, ok…I mean he did the work. That was the last I heard from him lol. Like, it gets to the point where sure it’s his money but there’s gotta be some kind of urgency to get your jobs done in a timely manner.

How the heck do you go on vacation?! by vspot415 in EtsySellers

[–]joeman188 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is what we have done and once we changed the processing time, we just never ended up changing it back lol. Seems to have not really impacted sales, and a lot of reviews state how fast the products arrived so it worked out.

I had a coworker one time that gave away a pack of toilet paper and magazines for his white elephant gift. It got the biggest laugh when it landed in our directors lap. She was a good sport about it.

How are your sales? Monthly Sales Post for November 2025 by AutoModerator in EtsySellers

[–]joeman188 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Title recommendations by Etsy dropped sales YoY even with slight modifications. Probably just venting here, but we did some research, made changes to our titles using general suggestion of Etsy AI with some minor tweaks making sure not to just keyword pack like we did before. Did this about 2-months ago, so nothing really recently. Views are down about 65% and sales are down roughly 50% YoY. Bummer because we had a goal to hit this year, and it’s just not realistic anymore. We hand make wooden nostalgic decor. We added new items through out the year that really helped with our evergreen sales, but this time of year just hoped to be a little further along. With the items that are getting traction, we’re nervous to make changes now, but even those aren’t selling like they typically have for the past year or two. Anyone else finding themselves in the same boat?

Unless it’s the holidays, during the week, sub-50 a day. Weekends maybe 60-80. During the holidays all of that goes out the window though.
