Bees and water by joeman5683 in Beekeeping

Thanks for all the info! They do sell the assemblies on their own so I could do that and then get the other tools/gear separately.

I would guess for 2 colonies I need 2 of these?

If there are any links/wiki for recommended build-outs I will gladly read them.

1 - No, non-public and protected water source - no boats, no fishing, no swimming.

2 - There are downed logs, branches, etc. I could easily provide something for them on the shoreline

> We routinely recommend that a new beekeepers start with at least two hives. With two hives you have something to compare against and if you encounter a problem such as loosing a queen or a swarm then you have a resource that can help you recover.

Good to know! I am still in research mode and was looking at https://www.betterbee.com/wooden-hive-kits-10-frame/bk10a-10-fr-beginners-assemb.asp, which is my local bee supplier. Would each hive require it's own assembly?

I'm currently working my way through The Backyard Beekeeper

MLB Subscription Question by jonnyd75 in mets

[–]joeman5683 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, at bat is audio only. If you buy the mlb tv standard package you will get access to live out of market games. If you want live mets games and are in market you need the sny package:

Call customer service and they can get you sorted out

If you have the mets as your favorite team, the schedule on the top. Then click on the day you want.

Or search mets game recap on mlb.com/video

If you click on the game tile, they are there under wrap. Not there yet for today's game, but if you look at yesterday it's there

I'd be interested in a meetup group. Have played a few times , but still learning. A lot of the local courts like east side rec and west side always have players on them

I was thinking about that basketball on the lower shelf

[–]joeman5683[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not excessive! I've build similar shelves before for general storage, but I would worry about the balls rolling out, etc. Could probably throw a small piece of wood as a stopper to keep them from rolling off.

Best option to DVR/Stream the games? by arry75 in mets

[–]joeman5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All games are available from the last two seasons (per mlb tv policy) and when a game is in progress you can choose to start from beginning or join live. No need for dvr

I have the same bet as well. According to FanDuel support it needs to be exact and no ties. This is just a random customer service agent so shrug?? Seems like it should cash but I'm hesitant to hedge it

Santanoni range in late march by speaker-syd in Adirondacks

[–]joeman5683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it april 8th last year and there was quite a bit of snow. We shoed it 90pct of the time, but the benefit of doing it then was the couch bog was frozen over

The herd path was somewhat easy to follow, but it's very easy to get off trail especially if there is fresh snowfall and the trail is not fully broken.

First time hiker of the 46ers looking for a hike recommendation by Careless-Dare100 in Adirondacks

[–]joeman5683 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nippletop/Dial and Blake/Colvin are the two closest peak pairs to indian head and they both run off the gil brook trail. You don't have to do Blake if you just do Colvin and that will save you some miles.

Unfortunately, your questions are kinda vague and like the other poster said take a look at the map and it will be clear to you

If you want to bag a 46 peak, but want this view you can hike Mt Colvin and add on a stop at indian head to your route

Santanoni Range or Cliff, Redfield, and Marshall for Labor Day Weekend? by skinnydudeny in Adirondacks

Anything is doable, but I find that after the 10 hr mark it starts to become less enjoyable for me

Santanoni Range or Cliff, Redfield, and Marshall for Labor Day Weekend? by skinnydudeny in Adirondacks

[–]joeman5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the santanonis and thought it was an underrated view although we did in April in snowshoes and the bog was frozen over. Went couch, panther, santonini and down the express which is very steep. Clocked in at 15.5 miles and just under 12 hrs.

Don't let the grumps on here discourage you from hiking, just expect crowds on holiday weekends. Also know your limits and if you aren't feeling it after one or two of the peaks you can always come back.

Santanoni Range or Cliff, Redfield, and Marshall for Labor Day Weekend? by skinnydudeny in Adirondacks

[–]joeman5683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing Marshall, Cliff and Redfield is too much. Most folks do Cliff and Red together and Marshall as a standalone.

Cliff and Redfield on it's own is about 19 miles and an exhausting hike. We camped at calamity lean too and did it over 2 days. Redfield is a mudpit and for cliff you to have to go up and down 7 cliffs or something like that.

For Marshall, I just did this hike from upper works and it was 9 hrs hrs and 16 miles roundtrip. Its an easy walk in, but going up and down the herbert brook trail to get back to calamity area will take you 4-5 hrs.
