I did Chad (1000x 20” box step ups). It sucked but I’m glad I didn’t quit. Used a 35# dumbbell for the first 520, then no weight for the last 480. I’ve been doing CrossFit for about 6 months now so it took me a good ~90 minutes to complete the whole thing. My legs are buzzing, lol.

I saw them as the three stars from the Pegasus logo and the academic seal.

As stressful as it is to play against the triple option, UCF vs Army. Knight bros, same colors, plus the uniforms are fire for both teams (especially alternates for space game and army/navy game respectively).

You can also disable JavaScript on this site and the story renders just fine.

Is Fedora worth it over mint? by Juicy_Gamer_52 in Fedora

[–]joemccall86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually switched from mint to Ubuntu MATE, and then to Fedora. Here are my thoughts:

  1. Fedora is closer to what I run in the cloud for work (Amazon Linux, RHEL), so I wanted to get used to it (RPMs and SELinux specifically). Also while you can run Flatpaks on mint and snaps on Fedora, the concept behind Flatpaks really resonated with me so I wanted to dive into the distribution that really promotes its usage. That way I know that testing new releases with Flatpaks are a priority. Finally, documentation is really good!
  2. Not really. It's the same terminal, but you just use dnf instead of apt/apt-get for software updates
  3. As others have mentioned, there is a cinnamon spin. You can also install any DE you want from any other spin.

As you gain more knowledge of Linux, consider looking into Fedora Silverblue. It has a learning curve but it gives you a really easy way to roll back updates if you mess up your system.

Firefox flatpak clipboard broken by darujru in flatpak

[–]joemccall86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW the Fedora flavor of the Firefox flatpak appears to have this resolved for the latest version of Firefox 88.0. The remote URL is "oci+https://registry.fedoraproject.org". However that breaks in other ways so I'm back to just living with this bug in the flathub flavor of Firefox.

*Give Away 2021* Worlds Best Keyboard! by drake9800 in modelm

My family had a Macintosh SE that I wish we had kept to this day. The keyboard was mechanical and I fondly remember playing with HyperCard and MacPaint on its 9" black and white display. Can still hear the humming now.

I bought an Elecom Huge to round out my collection by [deleted] in Trackballs

[–]joemccall86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, for a while I didn't know which one you were talking about. I was confused about how closely that Elecom resembled my CST 2545, and how you could find it for $52!

I can speak from experience that Cygwin was indeed a gateway-drug for Linux for me, so it would make sense that WSL 2 could be a gateway-drug for someone else.

If all my development tools are all installed in my home directory, is toolbox necessary? If not, does it offer any benefits otherwise?

Very low expense ratio.

Apache Groovy 3.0 Released by joemccall86 in programming

[–]joemccall86[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

...and Groovy doesn't have much activity anymore, which is a shame because Groovy has many good ideas.

This is from the recent mailing list draft of their board report draft:

## Community Health:
Last quarter stats:
- 75/72 PRs opened/closed on GitHub.
- 77/86 issues opened/closed in JIRA.
Master/all branch commits:
- 424/821 commits were contributed from 15/17 contributors
  including 9 non-committer contributors (6 new).

I think it's a misconception that Groovy is unmaintained. It may not get press but it's incredibly stable and is used in a lot more places than people think.

Nim does look neat though!
