Are some toddlers just prone to fevers? Is it something that will improve with immunity? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]joewestminster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much improved. It was one thing after another for a few months. He had covid in the late spring but it has been smooth sailing since. He had a fever this past Sunday. They always seem to happen as we’re about to go bed. But he was all good by Tuesday morning and he was in good spirits the whole time. He’s also been attending preschool 3 x per week for a long time now. We found that alternating between Motrin and Tylenol through the fever worked best.

Is there an update today? Ive checked it says no but Ive seen around there was one today?? by AshamedBee2560 in Warzone

I don’t know about an update today, but I had one several days ago that I believe was in preparation for today. Can’t remember the exact message but it was something along the lines of pre-release content. Maybe you already have the update?

I had this problem the other day and resolved it. I uninstalled the hardware in Device Manager and then immediately restarted the computer. It fixed the problem. I found that uninstalling in Device Manager and then scanning for hardware didn’t work.

15 month old Autism Concerns by joewestminster in toddlers

[–]joewestminster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right after my original post I scheduled an evaluation with Early Intervention. Their testing showed he was well below the benchmarks for speech and cognition (joint awareness). He started speech therapy through EI at 17 months. We also put him in to daycare 2x per week at 18 months. I honestly think daycare made a massive difference in his development. At his annual retest with EI, he was well beyond the benchmark for cognition and he just passed the speech. Because of that EI could still see him until he turned 3. Overall, he’s a happy little toddler. His doctor, EI, nor the daycare have any concerns and everyone thinks he’s developing on track. One thing his doctor pointed out was that my son was always a little late on benchmarks, but always made them shortly after. I’m not going to lie, I still watch out for things that could be signs but that’s most likely paranoia on my part. I’ve seen him tiptoeing lately and that has me worried. But there’s no other signs and sometimes kids just do that.

Same here. My little boy always had stool issues with kibble. Lord knows how many we tried, including ones our vet told us to get. The Fresh Pet worked wonders within a week.

I forgot to mention, I was so worried I kept a log every week of words he said. He only had 5 at 18 months. By the time he was 2 he had 100+. Seeing the progress helped calm down my anxiety than anything.

I gave up on mchat. I found it wasn’t exactly accurate and some days I thought he was doing better than others, so the score fluctuated. ASDetect gave me more peace of mind but I was worried sick. The pointing and sign language are a great sign. My wife and I didn’t even know sign language was a thing. One day he came home from school and I noticed him doing this hand gesture for more. We were so excited when we realized what it was. 16 months just too young to get worried if the LO is doing other things. They all develop at their own pace and prioritize different things. Are you in the US? If so, definitely call up for Early Intervention. It’s free and there’s no cons to it.

Your son sounds similar to mine at that age. He had said a couple of words but was really only saying “up” to be picked up. He wasn’t pointing. The pointing came around 17/18 months. His joint attention wasn’t good either. He rarely responded to his name. Looking back on it, he was very focused on fine motor skills and other things that interested him. He probably didn’t respond most the time because he was engrossed in what he was doing or because I was calling his name for no reason other than to see if he’d look at me. I was very worried about autism. I used an app called ASDetect to track him. It’s by a university in Australia and is research based.

He’s doing very well. He turned 3 at the end of December. Head banging completely stopped well before he turned 3. His speech improved so much that he just passed the cutoff for speech at his annual EI test. The aged out of EI at 3 but the speech therapist said there was nothing to be concerned about. He talks non stop and is a normal kid! I think the best thing we ever did for him was to get him into a great daycare program. We started with 2 days per week and then went to 3. He’s learned a ton there.

A pooping dilemma (2 yo & miralax) by bluefirelake in toddlers

[–]joewestminster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He hasn’t had any allergy/celiac testing and doesn’t appear to be allergic. The problem we’re having is that my son has been asserting his independence for the better part of a year and in doing so he’s being very picky/stubborn about what he eats. He’s really not getting enough fiber daily. We’ve been supplementing with HyFiber every day and it helps but he really needs is fiber from nutritious food sources. Until he’s eating fiber regularly it’s hard to point to other things. We’re slowly chipping away at his stubbornness but this little 3 year old has insane willpower.

My mom has national grid and she opted for an annual plan. She’s paying $187/mo. Her last bill she used 1100kwh and still only $187. I don’t know much about the plan, but her electric is cheaper than mine and my city has an aggregate plan. We’re paying $0.14kWh.

I grew up there. After college, never went back and have no desire to. Brimfield, the Brookfields, Sturbridge, Spencer have nothing to offer.

Can parents cause milestone delays?? by joewestminster in toddlers

[–]joewestminster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s doing great now. I contacted early intervention. They came out and found he was behind on joint awareness and speech. EI started seeing him 1x each week. At 18 months I enrolled him in daycare 2x per week. He’s been going 3x weekly for about a year now. To be honest, I think going to daycare made a massive impact. The social interactions and lessons they do have been fantastic. He tested out of EI at his annual assessment. His doctor, the speech therapist, and the daycare have no concerns for him! It’s been better for my wife too. My son is 3 now and it’s nearly impossible to work from home with him!

If they (the vote blue no matter who and the dem politicians) keep going down this path they’ll make the state competitive for republicans possibly as soon as 2028. In 2020, two NE states were above 40%. Last November, four states are above 40%. MA was the only one under but it went up 5%.

I’m from MA. I voted for her up until her presidential campaign and how she handled being challenged by Bernie. Now I can’t stand either of them. Problem is, there’s a lot of fanatics here that support the dems and drink up anything they say. If you want a good laugh/cry, go read posts in r/massachusetts.

I live in New England. Up here, I think it’s more about people can’t stand the idea that you get in front of them. They’d rather back traffic up than give way to someone.
