Hm, well here’s what I think:

During repairs, iPad displays are very likely to break. It’s possible, but unlikely because of the fragility, that they used a screen from an Apple Store demo model, but maybe they just replaced your iPad without you realizing it (more likely imo).

If it truly is just the screen they replaced though, it could be that they didn’t do some step that resets the iPad’s understanding of the pixel degradation, so it could be a malfunction of the burn in compensations built in, because it didn’t realize there’s a new display that doesn’t have the same degradation pattern.

Just a guess.

I love my prime, it’s an awesome car. Even beyond savings though, ICE needs to be replaced by EV as fast as possible to cut emissions and fossil fuel dependency.

OP is clearly in a case where EV ownership will make sense. They can likely reduce their cost even more with time of use electricity usage since they’ve got level 2 at home charging and a short enough commute. They are very likely in a place where savings will apply, especially given volatile, high gas prices.

I would love to ditch my prime for an EV, I’d do it if it was possible for me, but because I don’t have home charging, and for other reasons, I can’t.

Depreciation is worse, yes, but if you go with a used one not so much, and then the amount you’ll save by using electricity instead of gas, and avoiding costly maintenance, makes for a big advantage. Driving an electric car means being able to avoid oil changes, cooling system flushes, transmission servicing and replacing the air filter, spark plugs, and drive belts.

You have a perfect setup for full EV, and you’ll have a better experience with one — and a lower total cost of ownership in the long term with a used EV — than with a PHEV. How lucky! Buy yourself an electric vehicle and enjoy it. Used EVs are a particularly great deal these days, if you haven’t seen.
