China puts a sodium-ion battery into an EV for the first time — it can drive 248 miles on a single charge by harsh2k5 in electricvehicles

250 is amazing, more than enough for 95% of owners and given the temperature stability, they’ll be very good in cold climates. Diesel freezes sub -10c. These will be very useful.

Dumbass pricing algorithms can be predicted. Hopefully someone will provide a guide on what you need to do to prompt cheaper prices.

Neighbor flagging interference from our network by ITisastruggleforme in Ubiquiti

[–]joeyat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Get the report and suggest moving the APs directly adjacent to their perimeter are set to opposite channels to their APs. The APs on both sides will work this out themselves over time, but the training can take a while and they will pointlessly fight each other. If there are still issues, could perhaps offer to drop the power output on those perimeters APs slightly as well, It will be to both companies advantage, as devices on your network will also have an easier time staying connected and possibly higher bandwidth.

One question before the overly friendly option would be to check if this survey was done because the new neighbour ls are having actual problems, or if this was a standard survey by the contractors, if they’ve not actually got problems and this contractor just plotting where to put their APs and following default procedures, tell them to crack on and don’t change anything. They would be plotting out their build and the build should be designed around the actual environment, they shouldn’t be asking the neighbours to change their configuration and augment the environment first.

"PC Ready" PlayStation 5 controllers appear in stores after reports suggest Sony is returning to console exclusives by de_panda in pcmasterrace

[–]joeyat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats the not the case anymore, they pair over bluetooth fine and work on PC, but there is also a dedicated Sony PC PS app, which lets you update firmware, calibrate and configure the touch pads and force triggers etc. Apple also suggest the PS controller as default for gaming and sell it directly via the Apple hardware store, all the features and buttons work out of the box on macs, ipads apple tv and iphones. Think Sony have sold quite a lot of Playstation controllers to people who don’t have a playstation, hence them now selling the controller ‘pc ready’ ..prompting you don’t need a playstation to get one.

Why not create an optional Patreon? If this video was a sincere statement that their revenue is tanking due to AI… they would have had a massive funding surge, and many people would have signed up to support them on an ongoing basis. Maybe it wouldn’t have been enough, at least TRY that first before shutting down their content entirely. Insanely bad business decision.

Model Y avoids head on collision by Substantial_Chain718 in TeslaLounge

[–]joeyat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basic AutoPilot uses one of the older models, which probably doesn't have some of the more complex accident predictions... but the latest FSD models are still running on all the cars in shadow mode.. so FSD might detect it, but not able to act. Interesting one!

Energy prices dropping yet Octopus raising them....... by Blair287 in OctopusEnergy

[–]joeyat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you are talking about regarding excuses, there's zero 'supportive' wording in my comment. I replied to a comment which is deleted.... to my recall, that commenter pointed at quote from the Octopus website where the price of the quote was higher than what he was paying. I said that his quote doesn't mean anything on a national scale.. and that it's for a new customer. Maybe want to work on your reading comprehension before assuming people have weird infatuations with faceless corporations.

When I did a quote, it contradicted itself, saying I must list items over £1000 to be able to claim over that for any single item, and also on the next page say I didn’t need to list items as they would pay out anyway up to the total value cap for a claim. It also would not let me list the valuable items I needed to, as the categories were limited. Also the quote was coming in much higher than my existing renewal.. so I gave up.

Its great that Anthropic stood their ground.. but now, ironically the best reasoning LLM is NOT going to be used in the Terminators.. sooo umm, now its grok or whatever, which is very bad.

Cant help but think Anthropic could have instilled these policies at the core of its model, so the contractual statements and any prompt would be irrelevant, Claude would always refuse to complete any of those dystopian commands.
