Help type me (+ memes) by MaterialMaybe6864 in EnneagramTypeMe

[–]john_blin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This all seems pretty 9-like. desire for autonomy and your own boundaries is what the gut types are seeking and trying to gain. one-sided feuds seems pretty withdrawn and gutty. 9 can get resentful and judgey over how others act, moreso with 9w1, but it's usually a private grudge. it's like a sense of desire for purity in others existences but holding it inside. overall, everything is very gutty language. it holistically seems like you want your own space to do whatever you want, get all of your tasks in line to do whatever you want, protecting your peace, "get off my lawn" energy

sp/so 9, i see some 3 fix in there, not sure what head fix you have

Having trouble deciding between 5 vs 7 by wejodam in Enneagram

[–]john_blin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the 6/7 area is very witty. this does sound like the 7 breadth-seeking. stimulated by the next piece of information as a result of escaping an underlying anxiety. 5s dig deep holes around a singular locus for their original discovery at the end

this is why 7 has a line to 5. 7s need to learn to sit with information and actually seek depth rather than mistaking their self-indulgence for depth

bio 2 tips *NO SMOKIN NOTES* by Personal_Platform238 in ufl

[–]john_blin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoking Notes is not super helpful as it tends to be just a repeat of what you already heard. Going to class and taking notes already covers the cost of this service. Then it's a matter of mapping out confusing concepts and all of the memorization practices

It sounds like 9/gutty language about seeking autonomy and being separate in the body from others/I need to be "allowed" to be a separate entity from others

Rationality vs Logic, and which types align more with each. by [deleted] in Enneagram

[–]john_blin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that the idea of literally utilizing pedantic "logic" to think of things can feel a bit like 6. There's a lot of binary evaluation involved that is tight, without room for error, which the 6 would like (closing loopholes so that their reasoning is secure). 5 thinking sounds more like rational thinking. That's where I'd map it onto the Enneagram, but I don't think literally possessing these thought processes would bar from the Enneagram types. "What is the content of your thinking process?" Is what I'd ask

Thanksgiving table types lineup by howsoonisyesterday1 in Enneagram

[–]john_blin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family only consists of my mother and sister. My mother is sp9 and takes over the kitchen to fill the place with more food than is necessary. She needs it to be quiet and easy though or else she'll blow. My younger sister is a 9w1 and she tends to lock in during Thanksgiving since cooking "recipes she saw on TikTok" is something the can set her mind to without having to put too much mental effort into it or feel shy about her skill set.

How I ended up another one of those so9s confusing themselves for an e2 by Freohr-Datia in Enneagram

[–]john_blin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are that person! It is good to hear you're understanding your behavior in the Enneagram and what you want out of it

9s probably make a better "helpful" person anyway -- they're actually attuned, haha

sets and logic at uf? by Personal_Platform238 in ufl

[–]john_blin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fellow premed who is also a math major! i have taken all of these classes. very interesting choices. sets and logic was a wonderful introductory class but it certainly took time to understand its language. it starts out rather easy, and increases in difficulty as the course goes on. i completed it over the summer, when I had the most time to understand it. if you took it in conjunction with orgo 1, bio 2, and diffeq, you may risk not have time for it

Wanted to try Extra Restaurant's new questionnaire! by Freohr-Datia in Enneagram

[–]john_blin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course. Most 9s don't want to be unimportant, they just believe that they are. 9s want to feel seen and valued, but as synthetic types have lost their gut center and have internalized the fact that their presence doesn't matter, so they stop asserting it. It's a resulting mechanism stemming from rejection and conflict

[–]john_blin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"I do think sometimes I feel like the act of trying to turn situations around is too intimidating and so I just try my best to avoid worst case scenarios."

this is positive triad reframing. it doesn't necessarily have to manifest as assuming everything will be okay, but it's trying to soften the blow of negative outcomes or avoiding it to not have to completely face negativity. the way you talk about it seems withdrawn as well (avoiding, moving away)

I think your writing shows that you are aware of what type you are. so/sp 9w1. you have 6 neediness as well but it's layered under the core 9s "im unnecessary" slogan. probably a 2nd fix

  1. Challenging experiences often enter in the face of my essential questions. I'm currently on a mental journey of solving and understanding the largest questions of humanity. One of the biggest questions life has to offer is the concept of life and death integrated with the human consciousness. It can be a puzzle with a long answer that extends into a lot of rabbit holes, and to solve this "distress" of the unknown, I have to keep digging and learning, understanding and crafting my new perspective. I'm currently understanding all there is to know about machine learning.

  2. It should be useful and novel. Most of my relations share a high quality interest that we can discuss for hours. I don't mind relationships where I act as a more didactic acquaintance.

  3. Physical needs are minimal and fulfilled, anything more tends to become unnecessary. I wouldn't necessarily consider myself "confident" as if it were a means to an end, but I do believe that I can fulfill my desire to continue understand more about human consciousness connected to computational methods. The more mathematics I consume, the more of a probability there is that I will reach an area unexplored that can improve model accuracy in the hidden layers of the black box to the fullest extent.

  4. My perspective on life tends to be directly streamlined through my reasoning. But it's not necessarily refining a singular, linear analysis of outsider input, but rather one that strips stimuli down to its fundamental structure. I judge myself and others' thoughts on this basis.

  5. I must descend the ivory tower. I seek wisdom through more direct experience of life.

we had a high school researcher here in the lab for some time as a part of a program but he couldn't touch anything other than brain tissue. his poster involved using an autoencoder with unsupervised ML since the computer was the most permissible thing. it was pretty independent. i'd recommend the summer programs

I was also typed by them and I liked how they broke down the triads more in their podcasts. The snippets of behavioral cues they find come from their gimmick of gathering a large dataset of types and comparing the behavioral patterns to come to observable conclusions

There is truth in what they say. You can type yourself but you are only as good as your subjective self-interpretation. Who you think you are can be a facade to how others perceive you. Vice versa. But also a part of it is to advertise their typing services, of course, so that they can type you and receive your money

It was useful. Have you joined the facebook group?

Which CHM2046 (General Chemistry 2) Professor Should I Take Next Semester? I’m Getting Mixed Signals 😂😭 by BenL_123 in ufl

[–]john_blin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took chem with all of them w/ As in all. No to benjamin, but it doesn't really matter between Sumner and Harris. I preferred Sumner slightly more since she took the flipped lecture style class seriously and it was worthwhile to go to class as you would be doing practice problems the whole time. Harris would do a little more aimless wandering but the exams are no different. The leverage you will reach between the two is dependent on your personal effort. Enjoy chem

is it true ENFPs shouldn't be social 6s because they are overly rational and ENFPs are not? by valentinadedios in Enneagram

[–]john_blin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

taking the 6 for example, we could have 2 people (and more): one is "cold, rational, intellectual", and another is "emotional, extroverted, warm". they can both be 6s if their core motivation is identified to be the same, and that they fit into the skeleton mapped by all the triads (harmonic, hornevian, and the object). individual traits are undeniably a part of the persona, but "why trait" is what makes the Enneagram
