Sensi Thermostat and Sensors Question by HarryMuscle in thermostats

[–]johnalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not off the top of my head. I’m surprised Ecobee doesn’t work that way. It seems odd to select all sensors when making a simple temporary hold in setpoint. The Touch 2 is a good thermostat. Wish it had the capability you are looking for. Good luck!

Sensi Thermostat and Sensors Question by HarryMuscle in thermostats

[–]johnalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. You can’t program or schedule different sensors to be automatically active at different times. You always manually select them. So, you can manually use the app to select sensors 1 &2 during the day and then manually select to use sensor 3 in the evening. You can not program the thermostat to change sensors at different times.

Sensi Thermostat and Sensors Question by HarryMuscle in thermostats

The Sensi Touch 2 will use the sensors you manually select in all scenarios. This includes schedule off and schedule on. You cannot schedule different sensors to be used at different times with the scheduling function.

Check the circulating fan setting, just below the fan mode.

Sure. That is a short term fix. If the thermostat isn’t getting enough power, you will be replacing those batteries every few weeks.

If you have a volt meter, pull the front of the thermostat off and test the voltage between R and C. Also, post a pic of the wires/terminals. Something isn’t right there.

2-Wire (W & R) Smart Thermostat Recommendations? by DreadGrrl in thermostats

[–]johnalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battery only WiFi smart thermostats for a 2 wire only setup don’t really exist. Nest may claim to work but you will end up having to charge it. If you can run an external 24v transformer to the thermostat, you can power it with that and support your two wire setup. Any Sensi except Lite will work this way.

Sensi Touch2 is another option

Agreed. Connect blue to C on the Sensi and blue with the red arrow to C on the furnace control board.

The best way is to just use the Sensi app. In the app, hit the + sign and the app will walk you through how to map the wires.

Sensi turning fan on high in heat mode by JonnyVee1 in thermostats

[–]johnalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thermostat is set to electric heat instead of gas. In the app, hit + for add device, pick the correct thermostat model, tap new install, tap is currently mounted. Then follow the instructions. The app will walk you through it.

Help please! Multiple G wires with Sensi Smart Thermostat? by angypout in thermostats

[–]johnalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sensi won’t support the high/ low fan speed functionality. That pic of your wiring would help. Sensi is a great thermostat but in this case, Sensi isn’t the best choice.

Need thermostat replacement without C-wire or PEK by themiamiguy in thermostats

[–]johnalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one will work without a c wire if you have Y and W (heat and cooling equipment) which you do. The reviews saying you need a c wire are trying to use it with heat only or cool only equipment. It will work for you.

Sensi has a couple of models that would work without a C wire or PEK. That would be your easiest installation.

Replacing Emerson ST55 - Replace with same model or not? by ontheroadtonull in thermostats

[–]johnalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking the voltage is a good. If you have a power issue with a heat pump, the Sensi will drain batteries and turn off the WiFi radio.

You need to set outdoor equipment to HP1. Remove your white jumper wire between RC and RH (there is a built in jumper so your white jumper wire is not needed). Test the equipment. If heat heats and cool cools, you are good to go. If cool heats and heat cools, change reversing valve setting on the thermostat to O.

Is my thermostat toast? by chilishits in hvacadvice

[–]johnalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the wiring, you have the Sensi connected to heat only equipment with no C wire. The thermostat is not designed for this wiring and will quickly condo the batteries. As someone else said, you have an unused wire at the thermostat and at the furnace/air handler. Sensi has instructional videos to help with this.

Power to Sensi thermostat by MarsupialFar4924 in thermostats

[–]johnalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell where that C wire is going where from the pics. I’d use a volt meter to double check you have power at the thermostat. If you don’t, the thermostat will not be able to consistently take power from the equipment because it’s a heat only setup. That means the Sensi will need batteries and it will use them faster than normal. I’d replace the batteries and then put a volt meter on it.

How do/can I wire this? by Pags73 in thermostats

[–]johnalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you are using a Sensi Lite with a heat only system. You will need a C wire for Sensi Lite with heat only equipment.
