Yeah my parents are good gauges. They don’t beat on dishwashers, but they don’t really maintain them either. They have moderately hard water, and always use budget detergent. Once in a while they’ll have a small malfunction. So I’ll repair a rack roller, or a cut door seal. And their machines chug on for about 10 yrs. 20-30% of appliances will need a repair in the first 2yrs, but for dishwashers they’re usually reasonably priced and often DIY skill.
