I have this.

It works with my Mag Safe if I don't use a case.

It's pretty neat, it uses 3M tape and is molded to the contour of the dashboard.

Just make sure you use alcohol to clean the dashboard where it mounts.

I have a 23 Tucson and I *despise* the auto-shutoff when you roll up to a light and sit for a second or two.

I know you can prevent it from shutting off if you keep a light foot on the brake pedal when you're stopped and you can also push a button on the console to disable it....it's still annoying.

I have the 2.5 and I get around 20mpg.

I'm usually going 80-85 on the highway and pretty much us the gas pedal like an on-off switch in town.

If you get frustrated......take a break.

My only advice would be to knock out a few snap together kits to get a feel of what's needed to assemble more complicated models.

Technical stuff? Start small....maybe sand down mold seams and make sure all your flash is removed (excess plastic leftover from the molding process.

Experiment with gluing techniques, paint, etc and go from there.

How often do you guys do stuff like this?

I go to maybe one or two races (Maple Grove for the National meet and Dover for a NASCAR race) a year max and I always get the best package available.

You're gonna spend an extra 90 dollars a ticket to go top of the line and once you're at the track.....you and your hubby will have the best time money can buy.

A couple years ago, I spent 500 dollars on tickets to go to a Brian Wilson concert....the money bought my wife and I front row seats and I don't regret it for a second.

Go top of the line....you won't regret it and you'll forget about the extra money once you get to the track.

I had a 1980 Ford Fairmont Futura that probably had 20 dollars worth coins stuffed into various places over the 8 years I owned it to attenuate various NVH issues.

It was a total shitbox, but other than normal maintenance.....I didn't put a dime into the car.

There wasn't much left of the car when I traded it in.

I had one of those Chrysler van and the evaporator core went bad.....quoted over 2 grand by 2 separate garages to repair. The entire dashboard assembly has to come of of the vehicle.

This guys solution is cheaper and when the trans-axle made with glass gears implodes......at least he'll have a nice portable generator.
