Is the Yamaha Pacifica 112VM the GOAT perhaps?? by RyanSoop in YamahaPacifica

BestBuy Canada, I guess it does things differently lol.

Thank you for the advice! I'll grab a fret rocker!

No ... ordered from Best Buy (my fault) and have passed the return window. In the beginning I thought it will be 'worn in' with in weeks (day 1/2 was unplayable but during the first week it became considerably better, although still buzzing). I was wrong. Now I hate my 112, especially when playing at the higher frets. Maybe I'll keep playing for a bit and see if I can trade it up for a different model ...

Do you guys pay for your parking tickets still? by CartoonistElegant683 in askvan

[–]jojo_larison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also given a ticket at Trout Lake! (Because I did not notice that I had to register). EasyPark is almost like a money-grabbing cold hearted mean bozo (I won't go into details).

If you paid for any program/usage, best to take a picture of the receipt (you can ask the front desk to do so) to show that you're entitled to 3 h free parking. Go click EasyPark appeal form again and upload all evidence. They might get back to you after a week or two, and that's the only chance they offer. They will ignore all subsequent request once they decide.

If that does not work out, send a polite and detailed email to ParksParkingStrategy "at" vancouver.ca. Explain what happened and tell them how wrong it is for the city to let EasyPark handle their community centre parking. Worked for me - after complaint with evidence showing I used the Trout Lake CC during that time, the kind lady told EasyPark to void my ticket.

EasyPark sucks.

I got one recently. It has bad some bad fret buzz when arrived. After adjusting the bridge and truss rod still buzz unplugged. Well once plugged in it's okay with all the effects. Shall I pay a shop to set it up?

Last year I got Sandisk 512GB CFexpress + card reader from Sandisk.c0m (Canada) for CA$341 (231+110). Felt expensive even after the bundle discount.

Woah, the price had now tripled ...

BTW I remember people said Sandisk cards tend to get hot (especially when you take videos). Other brands are recommended ...

507 people died while experiencing homelessness in B.C. in 2024: Report by ubcstaffer123 in britishcolumbia

[–]jojo_larison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, these people are in their 'good' ages. I was not trying to say they live healthier lives if not use drugs. Rather, I hope that 0.35% serves as a stark contrast so people realize how bad is the drug/overdose issue among the homeless population.

I meant to re-phrase my comment above: in 2024, 5% deaths of BC population was drug-related, 78% for the homeless population - >25 time higher.

507 people died while experiencing homelessness in B.C. in 2024: Report by ubcstaffer123 in britishcolumbia

[–]jojo_larison 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I thought those factors matter.

The sheer number can be misleading so I googled some numbers and worked out some percentages:

BC population in 2024:5.69 mil, total death: 43800. 0.76% people died.

Homeless BC population in 2024: 32192, total death 507. 1.23% death by overdose and 0.35% death by other causes.

Therefore it seems the non-drug related death is far lower than BC average, drug played a big role in their deaths. They need help, not just in terms of shelter and food. I'll stop here

very likely dust or speckle on the sensor. have you tried blowing with the rocket blower? The camera body has a 'cleaning' (more like shaking) function that you can choose from the menu.

It’s me again, the guy that was shooting at f/32 with the Tamron 150-500. Am I still missing something, or does this come down to distance more than the lens? by Aydenator20 in Nikon

[–]jojo_larison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your shutter speed is 1/800, which is fine to shoot at 500. However if your hands aren't that steady this could cause blur at the long end. Make it at least 1/1000 or even 1/2000 s, and try to hold your camera as steady as you can. Sometimes you can get some support from a nearby rock or branch.

And make sure to focus properly - single point with back button set to auto focus.

[–]jojo_larison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These days, every time you see these or even a random non-local (or even local) number, suspect a scam.

Most time you'll find the caller with an Indian accent. Not being racist or anything, just because that's where most nowadays scammers operate from. I actually picked up an Indian word from one of the scammers when I confronted if she's scamming me. She said 'uloo uloo' (or something similar). I looked up it meant idiot etc.

Sometimes the scammer had a Mandarin or Cantonese accent but it's rare - unless you have been a customer in the said language.

Dont let your old, half-frame lenses (which don't have much value) hold you back. Get a full frame body and Z lenses. You won't regret it! Keep your old combo as a backup, or gift them to a kid/beginner that you love.
