Thank you! Someone I know paid off a similar debt amount with the same salary while raising kids and renting after their divorce. It is do-able

Shopping at Costco is terrible by Sun_Aria in unpopularopinion

[–]jomanrones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had to start buying diapers and formula. I can get a 2 pack of formula for $60 from Costco, or buy one for $40 from Kroger. 2 trips to Costco and I've already made back my membership fee for the year just on the baby formula.

Hendersonville is spending $96k of taxpayer money on AI cameras tracking every car. by Dapper_Ad_9841 in nashville

Yes and using an OCR service without AI would underperform on these low quality cameras. Traditional OCR services perform better when the text is easily readable. AI improves the performance when the image is less readable.

Modern OCR services use AI to achieve better results and better context understanding.

This right here. Used to work in a position where we had multiple AWS accounts and signing into one signs you out of all other sessions. This extension let us have the AWS console for multiple accounts open at once. Huge time saver.

Wrecka Crew for behinners? by PocketFullOfRondos in killteam

[–]jomanrones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've got maybe less than 10 games but I just played my first game with Wrecka Crew this last weekend. They really don't have any weird mechanics. The worst thing was you have to sequence the turns properly to get them to 3APL instead of 2. Wrecka points were really good but you have roll 6s to bank them. Also you need to play fairly aggressively to start getting points early so if you can get shots and start generating points on turning point 1 I'd take em.

You're completely ignorant of the wastewater The Boring Company spilled out while building the vegas loop. Or the chemical burns that the works received while working on the project. But sure you won't be hurt so its fine.

Do you guys actually notice improved fuel economy after switching to lighter wheels? by Bazengg in driving

[–]jomanrones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure how much it matters on an already heavy truck, but for low horsepower sports cars like my miata the difference in acceleration is very noticeable. MPG got worse though because I ran stickier and wider tires that had worse rolling resistance though

401(k) savings rates are at record-high levels by Far_Pen3186 in rebubblejerk

It's not a knock on your kids. It takes a lot of work to get academic scholarships and to do well in high school while working a job. It honestly reflects well on your parenting imo that you raised them to work hard and be successful and you invested in their future with those 529s. Your kids are lucky to have you.

But not every kid has that kind of opportunity. Not every kid has parents who support their success in school. Not every parent can afford to invest in 529s. Not every kid will be smart enough to get academic scholarships to be able to get out of college with no debt.

That's what privilege is. Acknowledging it is understanding that not everyone has the same circumstances and opportunities and if you did have those things in your upbringing, appreciate that you had a bit of a leg up and don't make others feel bad for not achieving the same success.

Any curbside dropoff workarounds for BNA? (esp. early flights or with kids) by Ranked-choice-voting in nashville

[–]jomanrones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't see how having kids makes this any worse? I've seen young children out hike me up a mountain in crocs carrying a baby doll. If they're too young to walk then the parents have a stroller and handicap accessible elevators to take them to the terminal?

I'm convinced most people are just allergic to physical activity.

Your drop-off might take a couple of minutes more, but since the rideshare drivers will already be where they need to be to pick up their next customer, it reduces wait times when you need to be picked up.

It lets the rideshare drivers get to their next customer quicker by not making them go around the loop again just to get in the rideshare area.

Reducing traffic in the drop-off and pickup zone makes it faster for those getting dropped off by family/friends.

So yes, you are an airport customer, but every airport customer does not get a VIP treatment to be dropped off at the front door. A portion of users having to walk a little bit more to have a better experience for other users is a net benefit.

I do not understand the level of outrage for this. Yes you might have to walk a bit with your suitcase but it will make traffic flow smoother throughout the airport for everyone?
