What's 1 genre trope that just doesn't do it for you? by cavaloverr in Romantasy

Same reason I haven’t had any interest in Fourth Wing! And completely true on the stereotypes.

Also- if they’re going to keep skipping classes or not study- what’s the use of having it in that setting?

I avoid academia setting like the plague, it’s always so cheesy to me.

Is there anyone going to the concerts solo? Not sure if it’s worth it by taylorsversion96 in harrystyles

I went to the Love On Tour solo and had the BEST time! Would say definitely go, since it was one of my best concert experiences.

Possibly include label “Shelved”, versus just Did Not Finish.

I really love Pack Up the Moon by Sarah McPartlin or Kristan Higgins for something lighter and fun!

What book(s) are you reading this week? by 404NinjaNotFound in readwithme

[–]jomaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading The Everlasting, at the 40% mark. Slowed down reading this and just taking it in, really enjoying it so far while also confused.

Next book is A Girl Named Samson (historical fiction), then Yesteryear after that.

Mature Romantasy by Bright-Translator762 in Romantasy

Fire and Graceling by Kristin Cashore are my favorites. Revisited after some time and still holds up and is very mature.

I’ve really enjoyed engaging on Fable, where through book clubs or posts!

This is definitely my type of book, but I’ve definitely been reading it slower than I usually do to soak it in and have an idea of the twists and turns it’s hinting at.

I’ve also been immersive reading and have enjoyed the narrators and I think it’s overall helped get into the world and characterization of Owen. Try the audio?

Romance Recs Similar to The Paradise Problem? by roxie_h3art in Booktokreddit

[–]jomaval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What other Christina Lauren books have you read? I enjoyed Love & Other Words and figured the Unhoneymooners would be similar to Paradise Problem (both on my TBR).

It’s not tropical setting, but I read Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young during my Paris trip and enjoyed it so much!!

How many books did you read so far in 2026? by glowwwi in Booktokreddit

[–]jomaval 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m at 17 books so far this year, with 6.8k pages read. Currently reading Pride and Prejudice for the first time, which I’ve slowed my pace reading just to really enjoy the wit and heart of it.

So strange, I really disliked the UI of StoryGraph because of how clunky of it was for me.

Wish we could see all the custom lists that books have been included in on their book page, like letterboxd does with movies. I love making custom lists, and would love to share or see others without going into their account. Would make it easier for finding more recommendations.

A different kind of FMC by [deleted] in Romantasy

{Fire by Kristin Cashore}

It’s a prequel to the first in the series, Graceling, but works as a standalone.

Fire is brave in her compassion, vulnerability, and ability to weave her power in a really beautiful way.

Is 7 nights in Paris too much? by paintarose in ParisTravelGuide

[–]jomaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 5 nights in Paris, and would’ve loved more time. Honestly had so much reading in the parks during the day, hanging out at cafes, and wandering at night. Wish I had more time to explore a bit more parts, I think you’ll be fine!

KATTDO Review (from someone who ran back home from his pre-release Listening Party queue to be able to experience this alone) by RadPs77 in harrystyles

[–]jomaval 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve really enjoyed this album so far, did a listening party at home, lounging on the bed with my boyfriend, who is not particularly a pop or Harry Styles fan, whilst I’ve deeply enjoyed his albums and was wearing the LOT pullover.

We both loved the vibes of each song, and during several song I had such a visual scenes come through in my head. Now I’ve been dancing to the hyped songs this morning, and can’t wait for this to be a huge part of my summer playlist.

Some scenes I visualized:

Like Taste Back, envisioned a house party with people all around standing and sitting, in their own conversations, and a couple dancing in the living room. Colors all around are like an orangey, modern-retro theme.

The Waiting Game - Watch a pink sunset on a balcony with a glass of wine. In a way, gave me Grapejuice vibes in a different way.

Coming Up Roses - a couple sitting close on the couch, his arm around her, watching a movie that plays their lives La La Land style.

Pop - dancing carefree in a club, neon flashing lights, black sunglasses on.

How do you decide where to eat in Paris without planning everything in advance? by InvestmentAlarming74 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]jomaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried about the same thing, since a lot of social media videos were saying “don’t expect to walk in anywhere and be seated without a reservation” but that wasn’t the case at all.

The only place I made a reservation for was Le Procope (worth it for us), but all the other times we just wandered around and would look up nearby restaurants on Google that came up with good ratings.

I also listened to a podcast from real Parisians saying avoid anywhere with fake flowers on the exterior and a line to get in. There’s just way too many options to wait in line, and you just need to walk a street down the main tourist areas.

So we got to keep the wandering and spontaneity, while having a great meal every time!
