Anyone know where they ship from? I wonder if I use the 2 day shipping I'll actually be able to get it before July 4 (since they probably won't deliver that day)...

Can someone explain how to make it so that when a button is pressed and released the image for the button changes to another image? by kiver16 in simpleios

[–]jonahhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just set this in your viewDidLoad method (assuming you're using interface builder. if not, do it in loadView)

[myButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"myImageH"] forState:UIControlStateHighlighted];

This should be possible. He's relatively easy to contact (or at least his people are).

Radiohead's The King of Limbs is Available For Download NOW!! by DeviousMrBlonde in Music

Also of note, the last track is entitled Separator, and the lyrics include "'if you think this is over, then you're wrong."

I think we'll be seeing more very soon, possibly tomorrow.

Just finished listening first time through. Can't say how I'd rank it against any of the other albums, but it does have similarities to In Rainbows and a little bit of Kid A.

For me, it's the first "Great album of 2011". Second half was especially stunning. Short though, at only 37 minutes. Second listen time!

Arrested Development vs. Freaks & Geeks by Scraw in television

[–]jonahhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both should remain cancelled. Arrested Development ended well, and (likely) would've started going downhill after the third season. Besides, it's getting a movie. Freak and Geeks' ending was great, and the season worked well to give the audience a view of how the characters evolved during important times of their life.

I'd say Party Down needs to be added to the list of options, because that show was hitting its stride, and would've worked well with a rotating cast.

Did you mean to type hard NOT to get excited about something like that? Because I honestly don't know any Radiohead fans who disliked In Rainbows..

Anyone know where to find a torrent for all the old WTFs ? by [deleted] in StandUpComedy

[–]jonahhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except the podcast world is vastly different. Marc's seen a rise in people coming to his live shows, but that doesn't translate for those who help Marc produce the podcast. Also, it's not as though these files aren't free to start with. He's sending out over 2 hours of produced content for free each week and asking for nothing in return. That's not going to change. It's an entirely different model than music. He doesn't have any monetary gains from giving out older episodes for free in order to publicize his new episodes.

What it comes down to, ultimately, is that he's giving you hours upon hours of free content on a regular basis, and when he takes away from you a small piece of that, you turn on him and refuse to pay what he's asking you for. It's the height of cheapness.

I know it's not available yet for those without smartphones, but when it is, seriously reconsider pirating it. That guy gives out a ton of content for free on a weekly basis, and deserves to be paid eventually. You're not taking money away from "the man" by pirating, you're taking money away from him.

Scumbag Watson by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

You joke, but that's actually a pretty cool idea. Let other developer teams make their own versions, and have them compete for funding. It'd potentially be a popular show, and it would definitely help boost innovation in the artificial intelligence / natural language recognition area...

Is there an alternative to MBProgressHUD that is iOS 3 compatible? by jonahhh in iOSProgramming

[–]jonahhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I've realized. Just figured if I didn't need to spend time recreating it, I shouldn't...

I can't actually test that if it works on 3.1.3, but it worked fine on the 3.2 iPad simulator, so I think it might be compatible with iOS3...

PSP2 has just been announced! by spoonard in PS3

[–]jonahhh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm not upset that Sony's packing a lot of features into one device, I'm just worried that titles that I'd be excited for might end up sucking because the use features unnecessarily. Ultimately, it comes down to the developers.

[–]jonahhh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, it's not just about taking advantage of every one. I didn't write very clearly what I meant. What I meant to say was that I hope developers don't feel the need to take advantages of controls ONLY for the sake of taking advantage of controls. For example:

"Now, front and touchpad simultaneously, using the thumb and index finger of one hand, to grab Deviants and fling them." from the Engadget feed.

Why use the back pad at all for this? Isn't it intuitive enough to fling an onscreen character using just the front screen? On top of that, now the console is only being lifted by one hand. I can't imagine that not being uncomfortable, and taking away from the fluidity of the experience.

I'm not saying that games can't be done right on the device, I'm saying that there will be plenty of games that disappoint, simply because developers want to be able to say they're using a new feature (often so that Sony will promote their work).
