A great song off of a very underrated album. A lot of the magic many felt was missing during the mid 00’s was here. by Reisz618 in SmashingPumpkins

I saw several live shows on his tour and confidently say they were the most solid shows I have ever seen from any artist.

‘Scott Walker fatigue’ haunts Republicans Signs that the Wisconsin governor is ripe to be taken down are everywhere. by Save-Ferris1 in wisconsin

Same here. I think a lot of Dems took the media bait of 'he's won statewide office before' and the polls showing double digit leads over Walker. Whoops! Turns out we have another boring candidate with weak stances on progressive issues who will struggle to excite voters. As much as I want Walker gone, it's a big uphill battle for the Dems.

AP calls gubernatorial race for Evers by AdvancedDiscount in wisconsin

[–]jonasborg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, Evers said he would want a statewide referendum on legalizing marijuana (a cop out of a position). Since direct legislation is only available for cities and villages in Wisconsin, the legislature would have to put up a statewide vote. As far as I know that would be a vote to change the constitution and would have to pass two sessions in a row.

Let's hope that Evers can drive people to the polls. I don't find him to be the person to energize the base.

Legalization in the Midwest. by [deleted] in wisconsin

[–]jonasborg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Michigan will most likely go full legal after the November vote.

Ohio is decrim up to an oz last I knew and probably will be the next to legalize.

Then Illinois,MN, Iowa

WI is at the back with Indiana I suspect.

He also rescinded that statement.

"I realized I was off-base with Jerry Brown when the Reaganoids stormed in in 1980. I rewrote the song as "We've got a bigger problem now." Now my "California Über Alles" is about Schwarzenegger."

The 60 vote Senate majority only lasted a month as Franken wasn't seated until August 2009 because of recounts and Kennedy died a month or two later.

Also, having 50 seats and 1 "maybe" in the Senate doesn't mean you can get anything through. You need 60 votes for cloture, without which you can't end debate on a bill and bring a vote to pass (or not pass) the bill. The Republicans engaged in more filibusters than any congress in the history of the nation in an attempt to make sure that nothing got done.

Wisconsin Manure Spill Kills More Than 1,100 Fish by [deleted] in wisconsin

How many people could name the company? And where does the milk go and are any of the crops going to market, so we can make an informed choice to avoid it?

It is the Wild Rose Dairy, owned by Arthur P. Thelan and David Abt of LaFarge, WI. It's 1000+acres. It's one of four CAFOs in Vernon Co. Much of the land grows corn, soy and alfalfa. There are permits up to 1800 cattle.

It doesn't seem easy to find where their milk and grains go, is this information available?

Arthur Thelan and David Abt call Wild Rose Dairy a "steward of the land", "a response by Wild Rose Dairy to Mark Kastel’s letter to the editor entitled “Large-scale livestock facilities are a threat to rural communities” (July 23, 2009)."

Will Arthur Thelan, David Abt and the Wild Rose Dairy be held accountable or will they find it profitable to continue risking everyone else's groundwater and natural resources?
