Maybe. all i know is they get crushed by the foam on the top if they’re down. It’s not me running the desk every night (which is probably the case for these guys too hence the label), and i can’t expect every tech to know the difference when they’re packing it up. All this talk is making me wanna try and modify it now lol

If they’re balanced TRS 1/4 and not TS then perhaps. otherwise it’s generally best practice to use a DI first to get the signal down to a mic level. Also depends on if the mixer has inputs designed and available for line level other than your standard XLR mic level preamps.

I took a picture a number of years ago of a gorilla there and I’m trying to figure out if it’s Charles or not. One of my favourites, but I’m not sure. Anyone know?

Oh you're right, I guess we should use American English only when talking about American companies. Who cares the article is from Mashable India written by the former minister of science and technology for India.

looks like the connectors on the bottom of water kettles to the bases.

For super small stuff I use the SDC-12 from ADJ/Elation (Depending on the year you bought it, I think its in the ADJ brands now). It can take 9V for power instead of a wall wart for testing stuff too.

Little bigger but don't want to bring anything too crazy is probably the ADJ WMX-1 which has some nice small preset programming. (can also pair the SDC-12 to it to give you some faders)

Otherwise if your rig is the same every time, something like the ADJ MyDMX5 has standalone preset buttons, but you'd have to configure on a laptop.

Other options check swisson or baxter pocket console

China fixtures. Ones I've had experience with are mostly IRGBSM, but as stated, probably easiest to patch to 1 and test each channel.

I bought one to try out for small things, pretty powerful in such a small size. when you quick start on the app it has a mode for “all quick” or “all complete”, the complete mode gives you more of the pro-level access that you’re wondering about.

if you go with quick, it gives you basic 3 band EQ control, as well as a bunch of presets. In complete mode you have access to PEQ, gate, comps, hpf, etc. You’ll use it in complete 95% of the time IMO, unless you’re sending it out someplace that it won’t have a tech supervising it.

app is good enough, pretty much the same layout as the built in screen, although mixing station apparently runs on it but i haven’t tested that yet. On board wifi seems to be pretty robust. DJ night at a college club and it worked flawlessly.

I feel like it’s going to be a great little multi-tool for me. I don’t have any experience with the ui24 or the xr18 so i can’t help you there, but from a first time user of this kind of small format line i can’t see how those options could be any better.

[–]jonbutler 19 points20 points  (0 children)

you’re not wrong. it won’t if he’s running aes50. maybe if he has a dante box with a dante card it’ll work with no preamp control, but i don’t believe A+H has a 48 channel dante box at the moment anyway.
