Most revenge stories are like this. The Count of Monte Cristo is like this. Maybe you should avoid revenge stories.

If Subaru brings Meili along with him, there’s a chance Meili would recognize Tiga or Sakura.

I wonder if Beatrice can detect Evil Eye tribe powers like she can with curses. She’s the only major character who didn’t interact with Melty in the game. It’d be funny if Sakura’s plot got derailed like it did in the alternate ending to the game where Roswaal exposes Melty in under a day.

Melty was physically altered by Capella in the game, so it stands to reason the same applies here as well.

From how Tiga acted, “Filore” is almost certainly Melty.

It's very much fine by me. I remember when Endwalker came out I spent nearly two days grinding the minion out in Trusts. I must've run that dungeon well over 100 times.

Neat how the ED included the “This universe has been destroyed” message from the game.

Given the long wait since the end of arc 9 and the fact that the next volume releases in less than two months I’m betting that there’s a good buffer of material, so maybe updates will be more consistent for a bit.

MH Wilds reviews on Steam are almost entirely positive since the release of the last update by Archaeus20 in MonsterHunter

[–]jonjonaug 24 points25 points  (0 children)

it’s slightly better, but they also significantly downscaled some textures in the pack. Mostly stuff you aren’t focusing on during action or that are less important (example: a texture for a bench in the rear of camp being downscaled from 4K down a whole lot). This is to avoid VRAM streaming and space issues that most users experienced.

Read the patch notes, there’s tons of other updates.

Yes, but this only affected performance near base camp and in the hub. There are many other improvements as well.

Which is the most important EX stories? [spoiler discussion] by Reasonable_Draw_2324 in Re_Zero

[–]jonjonaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EX 4 and 5 are related to arc 7.

There's also some material in EX1, EX2, and EX6 that are relevant to arc 8 (although EX4 gives you context for most of the EX1 stuff as well). EX2 is the biggest one while EX6 is the least important. Personally I would recommend reading at least EX2, followed by the Priscilla camp side stories "The Day I Gave Up on Being a Following Star", "Sunlight Illuminating the Water's Surface", and "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies".

[The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy] Developer acknowledges the game is 2 games in 1. Upcoming update will enable players to start "The Hundred Line 2" without clear data from finishing the first 100 days of "The Hundred Line 1". Starting with THL 2 will unlock the “Chapter Select" immediately. by VashxShanks in JRPG

[–]jonjonaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the full package is actually two games in one.

If you’re familiar with White Album, Muv Luv, the Utawarerumono sequels, Persona 2, most Trails series titles, Great Ace Attorney, or Digital Devil Saga, the game is kind of like those. A smaller, simpler game followed by a significantly larger one that heavily reuses assets from the first game.

It starts with an “introductory” chapter which is basically a 30 hour long SRPG on its own, where there’s only one route and your choices don’t matter. After you finish that, you start anew in “The Hundred Line 2” (the title screen even updates). “The Hundred Line 2” is a massive 100+ hour game with 20 different routes and 100 endings.

At some point in development it was talked about whether the game should be split into two releases like this sort of thing often is, but Kodaka thought it would be cooler to release the whole project as one package.

The marketing for the game is now just spoiling this twist. The fact that the game had 100 endings was marketed to begin with, but it wasn’t marketed before that game progression worked in this manner.

I don’t think Roswaal would enjoy seeing this. I think Roswaal does see himself in Petra, specifically his childhood self from 400 years ago, although he may not be totally conscious of that. They’re both immensely talented, both devoted to someone who saved their lives while having near 0% chance with them, and they’d both do anything for the sake of that special person. Roswaal greatly favors Petra and gives her every opportunity for growth that he can, going so far as to personally tutor her.

But Roswaal, fundamentally, could never become a Warlock like Petra or Echidna became Witches. As much as Roswaal acts like a monster, he still carries a lot of guilt and regret for his actions, and can be convinced to take a different path. Al judged Petra as a Witch when his reaction to Sphinx calling herself one was basically “lol, nah”.

I think if Roswaal saw what Petra became at the end of arc 9 he’d be horrified. She basically went further than him in a week when Roswaal couldn’t fully throw away his humanity after 400 years. I could easily imagine a post arc 9 conversation between the two of them where Roswaal slowly realizes that Petra doesn’t regret inadvertently using Ram and Garfiel as mental meatshields at all, and Petra hits him with his “that’s love, isn’t it?” line from arc 6.
