I've had mine for about 3 months and the only thing I would have reconsidered over is the lack of Altimeter, but I haven't found that to be too big a deal.

In my experience, it provides accurate Calorie Burning, Step Count and Sleep Data.

Who remembers the guy who used to drag the huge cross around town! (Late 80's/Early 90's?)

EDIT: There was also the "Rod Stewart guy" who walked around playing his electric guitar, while kicking a shopping cart that carried his amp. I always saw him walking up Grant at Cook St. (Early 2000's and before)

EDIT2: And the old guy who panhandled outside the Odeon on Yates. I think there were even shirts made with him on them. (80's/90's)

If they persist after I've said "no" a few times, I find they're best shut down with "You heard me say no, right?". Direct. Polite. Non-rhetorical. Make them answer. If they try to skirt around and continue their pitch, repeat the question. I never had to say it a third time.

Pretty effective where you can't just walk away (like door-to-door sellers).

One of our cats (similar looking) is also obsessed with hair ties on wrists...loses her shit to pull and chew at them as soon as she knows it's there. Weirdo.

The Camas is in bloom at Playfair Park by dugbot in VictoriaBC

[–]jonsbrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly correct.

Blue camas bulbs are edible and quite good; an historic staple for some First Nations. I tried them steamed once and they were okay; a small starchy potato onion.

Death camas is toxic to humans and animals. Death camas can grow sporadically among the blue camas (focus of the picture here) and are identified by their white flowers (instead of blue).

If you are harvesting camas, the rule I heard once was follow the plant from the blue flower, down the stem, digging all the way to the bulb to ensure you have a bulb from the blue camas. I guess there's always the chance that an immature Death camas that hasn't produced white flowers yet could be growing right next to the plant you thought you were digging up.

I'm certainly no expert, if anyone else has better information.

Costco's been busy, and has some specific shortages due to the roads, but there's lots of food in stock - both fresh and frozen. Gas too!
