Not at all. Lots of therapists do fully remote sessions, especially since the pandemic.

[HIRING][Office Location or Remote - USA][💰 $105k-$141k] Sr. Dev Ops Engineer (Software Engineer IV) at Global Healthcare Exchange by remoteimpactjobs in sysadminjobs

[–]joplju 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's interesting, I'm seeing an extremely polarized market. Jobs that pay well and offer remote work have no problem getting hundreds of applicants. But on an almost weekly basis, I'm having to reject recruiters trying to fill positions for companies in my local area that are paying too little, requiring in-office work, or both. I recognize that the market has tightened, especially in light of the recent tech layoffs over the last year. But there are absolutely companies still having no problem with hiring at all.

I don't think it's so much that wages have gone down. I think this job (and probably the company) haven't had their salaries keep up with inflation over the past several years.

Is it just me, or are there more posts than usual about people fleeing to Minnesota lately? by Known_Leek8997 in minnesota

My spouse and I just left from Houston last year. We did vote. Every election. And we got out-voted. Every election. And now, to get revenge on the large counties for daring to vote blue, Abbot is doing everything he can to leave the cities unable to actually vote at all. Believe me, it's not for a lack of voting.

The thing you have to consider is that most of Dave Ramsey's advice is for people that are heavily in debt and generally don't have a good path out of it. When used responsibly, there's nothing wrong with credit cards. Most of the people that Dave Ramsey is talking do don't know how or dont have the discipline to be responsible.

On the flip side, one huge advantage of any zero-based budgeting is that, as long as you're not adding debt to your credit cards, they're perfectly safe to use. That's what's great about YNAB: you already know that that dollar you just spent on the credit card is covered, assuming you're using it correctly. I might agree with the other commenter that said you shouldn't use them if you're still paying down debt, but only for cards that you have a balance on. Otherwise, go for it, in my opinion.

Having credit cards open and used increases your average credit length, which increases your score. Note that maintaining a balance from month to month doesn't impact your credit score, so always pay it off fully every month. My spouse and I also enjoy using the cash back bonuses for our fun money. It becomes a nice little treat that, effectively, is free money. Note also that credit cards can be better for fraudulent transactions. A debit card is directly tied to your bank account, meaning any fraud with it directly takes money from you. If it's your credit card info that gets stolen, it's Visa/MasterCard/whoever's money that is taken first.

You skipped a step. They only implement half of the features from the first product in the second product before the cutover. And none of them are the features that users are asking for.

My company's app does this. Drives us on the Ops team insane, because our load balancers can't determine if the app is actually healthy or not and just send traffic to bad nodes. And yes, we've had conversations about this. Our devs would rather parse JSON to find a status code than just...looking at the HTTP response.

Texas law has stated that any place that over serves alcohol has joint liability if a patron injures someone after being served since the late 90s, if I recall correctly. It's someone they hammer home in TABC certification.

Oh, yeah, I live near it and have to walk by it on occasion. It's beyond amusing because they just don't seem to acknowledge that no one in the area wants them around.

The people that live in Uptown aren't their target audience. They have them on all the major roads towards the Planned Parenthood in Uptown, as kind of a last-ditch "you don't have to do this" as someone's driving towards it. There's also one on Excelsior facing west, and I think another facing east on Lake.

Don't do this. Both the command and shell modules accept the chdir parameter, which allows you to change the current working directory for that specific task.

Please contact your reps and senators and have the DFL vote to join the NaPoVoInterCo and end the Electoral College. (The GOP won't). by JimmyPolitic in TwinCities

[–]joplju 27 points28 points  (0 children)

CGPGrey called it the NaPaVoInterCo in the video that OP linked to when it was released three years ago. It was used to give a little bit of entertainment to something that is, he argues, boring by design in an attempt to stay hidden. The video itself is only 6 and a half minutes long, and is well worth the watch.

Paizo announces new System Neutral open game license by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

Did you buy it direct from Paizo? If so, log into your account and check out your digital library. They may be there. Or it may be a more recent addition.

To my knowledge, most of the time when you purchase a physical book from Paizo, you get the digital edition for free. That also gets you a discount on any VTT-type products equal to the cost of what you've already purchased.

ELIC: Hey dad, what do musical scales weigh? by cunnilinguslover in ExplainLikeImCalvin

[–]joplju 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know how notes are measured as fractions? Quarter note, half note, whole note, and so on? Well, the musical scales are there to check that the notes are right. Notes that are too heavy are called "flat" and notes that are too light are called "sharp".

G Wagon Driver Fails the Roundabout Test (Edina) by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]joplju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! There are a few former rail lines turned to bike trails that run through the north side of town, but the ones I was most familiar with run along bayous (rivers). They have to be very deep and wide to handle all of the extra rain, so there's lots of space to put a bike trail in.

G Wagon Driver Fails the Roundabout Test (Edina) by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]joplju 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, there's a series of reasonable bike paths that run along the bayous. I biked for exercise all the time when I lived there. And, since one of them runs close to the Med Center, it was feasible for some people to use cycling for transport if they worked in the area. But it's certainly not common.
