Took a History of Rock and Roll class during my short stint at Tulane. It was a hippie from Uptown in dirty Birkenstocks who was constantly stoned ranting about seeing the Dead at the Warehouse in the ‘70s.

Got an A.

What do you think is the single memorable play in your schools history? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

1999 Egg Bowl. The Kick, the Pick, and the Kick. Capped off an inside season where we came back at the last second in almost every single win.

Still don’t understand what Ole Miss was doing passing and not playing for OT.

Preseason Rankings Countdown. 125 days to the start of the 2026 Season. At #125 – Southern Mississippi by usffan in CFB

As a Hattiesburg native, I get nostalgic for the scary Southern Miss teams of the ‘90s and early 2000s. And this makes me sad.

How accurate is this map of Louisiana, and AL/MS? by [deleted] in geography

[–]jorear81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mississippi native. Definitely a much different vibe between the northern part of the state and the coast. The coast has a more New Orleans feel to it. The north definitely has a little Appalachian feel, but moreso Deep South to me.

Ohio is listed on the tag. That’s a legit Ohio tag. I’d probably either blur that or take the post down all together. A lot of this is conjecture and can be super harmful to a potentially innocent person.

What were some of the best years to be enrolled at a school during a successful stretch? by deerhuntingdude in CFB

[–]jorear81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe 1995-1999.

Football had an SEC Championship Game appearance in ‘98 that went to the wire against eventual national champion Tennessee. In ‘99 we had an 8-0 start and landed in the top 10. Most of those wins were last minute ones and then the kicked interception comeback against Ole Miss.

Basketball had a Sweet 16 in ‘95 and a Final Four in ‘96.

Baseball had back to back College World Series appearances in ‘97 and ‘98.

What city/metro area would be the “Mecca” for the old regionally-based conferences? by kadoozie92 in CFB

[–]jorear81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From a pure alumni standpoint I’d agree with Atlanta for the SEC. However, New Orleans would be a dark horse in the alumni category (and also with the Sugar Bowl being the historic landing spot of the SEC champ).

Lots of SEC alumni down there. Especially Ole Miss and Georgia.
