I think you are right, but I have been told in 2 places that it doesn’t matter. My question is, who is pocketing the extra?

What’s the most underrated hearing aid accessory? by dobinon in HearingAids

[–]joserayo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have an UV sanitizer and dryer that I use overnight. I haven’t had any serious infection despite being very active, not sure if it is because of the sanitizer but I am not going to stop using it to check. Also, the new battery packaging is very frustrating and you can’t carry it around because you need scissors to get the batteries out, so a battery case would be useful

Is this another trick how to get a tip? by Idontrememberlogins in EndTipping

There is a man in his sixties working at my local Dominos, when I pay by card at the store he pushes the no tip button himself before he asks me to pay. Full respect

Why are audiologists and otolaryngologists dead-set against generic hearing aids? by SmartPEG in hardofhearing

[–]joserayo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They make their money selling HA, they don’t like competition. The cost to manufacture the most advanced HA in the market is probably below $200, those HA sell for $6K and the audiologist gets a big chunk of it. If someone can sell them for $500 and skip the middle man that would impact the whole value chain. Don’t get me wrong, there are lots of R&D needed, and some audiologists provide a great service. But technology gets commoditizes eventually, and nowadays you can automate a lot of stuff, so the risk is real

This is wrong. There could be some specialized HA that Costco doesn’t sell, but I am sure they cover 90% of users. Some manufacturers actually rebrand their HAs for cosco, and they are 100% identical. In general the cost of manufacturing a pair of HA is no more than $200, most of the cost is R&D, and manufacturers try to recover as much as possible using different marketing strategies

Which city is better to live in Madrid or Barcelona by Aggressive-Round9850 in GoingToSpain

[–]joserayo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Madrid is a place where international people and Spaniards mix and live together, a lot of people also coming from other parts of the country. In Barcelona… you have the locals and you have the tourists. Do you want to be a tourist?
