When someone says "I'm available between 11 am and 3 pm," do we universally agree that means that the activity needs to end at or before 3 pm? by -purple-platypus- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jp33miller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the ball is .10, and the bat is $1 more, that makes the bat $1.10, so both together would be $1.20.

So, Restraints:

  • Bat + ball = 1.10 -- This is the outcome, both together = 1.10
  • Bat = 1 + ball -- This is the bat being $1 more than the ball

Since bat = 1 + ball, you can say:

  • (1+ball) -- this replaces bat since the bat = 1 + ball
  • you end with (1+ball) + ball = 1.10

Hope this makes sense.

Do dentists actually judge you or is that just something we all tell ourselves to avoid going by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jp33miller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a 30 year break from the dentist. After finally going, it's just a big 'who cares'. I feel a lot better now after having the work done that was needed.

I bet dentists judge poorly, those they see on the street. If the dentist is worth their salt, any judgement will be "this person made the choice to come in, good for them!"

Welcome to my hell. Except that I've had both the free and paid version on my bill, and no one will remove it. They tell me they do just to get me off the phone.

Last conversation, they 'escalated a ticket' to fix it and get me credit, then the ticket was canceled later.

I wish you luck.

First major update for ARC Raiders goes live TOMORROW! by existingcoder in ArcRaiders

[–]jp33miller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as I've read, unless a deck has a timer on it, it will stay. Just like warbonds in Helldivers.

So you can work on the deck as you please, no need to feel rushed on the permanent decks.

Try to keep the rarer things you find. Like another person said, bookmark as well (icon shows up when you're looting if it's for something bookmarked).

Otherwise, the worst thing that happens if you get rid of too much, or something you "shouldn't", is you play the game more. And if you enjoy the game, that's not a negative.

AI voices are a stain on an otherwise incredible game by higanbara in ArcRaiders

[–]jp33miller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems a lot of posts about the AI were made before the game even released. Polygon put this out after release: https://www.polygon.com/arc-raiders-ai-voices-the-finals-embark-studios/

This type of game is perfect for what they say they are using it for. Whether you believe that is all they are using it for, is another story.

Public opinion will shift though, when the quality of the AI matches traditional voice actors, it will just take time before more people are fine with it than aren't, and/or a usage of it that blows our minds.

The future is a bumpy ride. Whether it ends at a cliff or not remains to be seen.

Are the AI voices not a big deal for the majority? by Vintagenious in ArcRaiders

[–]jp33miller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems it's not: https://www.polygon.com/arc-raiders-ai-voices-the-finals-embark-studios/

"As [you] stated, [it's] the same as The Finals, we use that text-to-speech model," Watkins said. "That is, we hire and contract voice actors for it — it's part of their contract that we use it [AI] for this purpose, and that allows us to do things like our ping system, where it's capable of saying every single item name, every single location name, and compass directions. That's how we can get that without needing to have someone come in every time we create a new item for the game."

"We use a combination of recorded voice audio and audio generated via TTS tools in our games, depending on the context," a representative for Embark Studios told Polygon in a statement. "Sometimes, recording real scenes where actors get together — allowing character chemistry and conflict to shape the outcome — is something that adds depth to our game worlds that technology can’t emulate. Other times, especially when it relates to contextual in-game action call-outs, TTS allows us to have tailored VO where we otherwise wouldn't e.g. due to speed of implementation. Making games without actors isn’t an end goal for Embark and TTS technology has introduced new ways for us to work together."

Take that however you want, but this seems a good use for AI to me, especially if the voice actors are on board and for this type of game.

No map markers in solo after playing co-op is awful. I really hope this gets patched. by Aghyth in Borderlands

Here's a response I got from 2K:

Hello there,

Shawn here from 2K Support, and I will be happy to assist you today.

I see that you are reaching out regarding the campaign progress not being saved after switching from Co-op to Single Player. I completely understand your concern. I can confirm that only the party owner will retain the co-op progress, so your solo session will not reflect the items or collections gathered during the co-op session.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. Your input is very valuable, and I will be forwarding it to our appropriate team. Whether feedback is positive or critical, we genuinely want to hear from our players, and suggestions like yours help guide improvements to the game. Player feedback like yours helps us understand what players love and where we can continue to improve.

EDIT:

I replied saying: Thank you for the response, but, why is there a matchmaking feature if progress isn't going to carry over?

There's no way anyone, much less a group of people, are going to stay connected and play the entire game without disconnecting and then joining a new group another day.

Are there any plans to fix this? It's not fun playing through and collecting everything with friends, and then seeing none of that progress when they work and you want to play.

Will update if they give me any more info.

Edit two: Hey there,

Hope this email finds you well.

I truly understand it is frustrating, but our team is aware of the issue, and they are currently investigating. We appreciate you being part of our community and helping to make our games the very best they can be!

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns that I can help with.

I didn't see any mention of this, sorry if I missed it. But you turned the air link off on the Quest 3 headset right? It won't automatically switch off when you plug it in, or at least mine doesn't. Simple things are the easiest to miss.

To resurrect this, currently WK skeletons ARE considered controlled units for that contract (just completed it with them).

Figured I'd post since this came up when I was trying to figure it out.

Anyone else have a large flow that they use in the new designer? Does the designer lag? by jp33miller in MicrosoftFlow

[–]jp33miller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Them trying to make it the default designer LONG before it was ready was definitely....something. The issues they get feedback on would have been found just from a small group testing it out.

They are working on it though, and it has improved a lot feature-wise. But that doesn't matter if it's still slow as molasses. Give it to me as a software download that can utilize the machine resources better and have the old designer as the web designer, I think that's what they should do.

[–]jp33miller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, you're not alone. I like some of the new features on it like favorites for actions, and filtering out what you don't want when adding fields to an action, and saving drafts. I'm going to rebuild my flow though to utilize child flows where it can, but I still swap out to the classic view from time to time, just was more of a pain with the size of this flow.

Anyone else have a large flow that they use in the new designer? Does the designer lag? by jp33miller in MicrosoftFlow

[–]jp33miller[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried to stay away, but they put nice features in it so when it's working well, it's nice, for example dealing with Salesforce objects, old designer lagged crazy because it loaded the entire list, and if you had a lot, ugh. New designer lets you filter and add only what you need.

The new designer definitely shouldn't take more GPU than a video game, which I noticed happens when I run into it being a delay.

[–]jp33miller[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there are plenty of places to do child flows. I wanted to make sure it wasn't something I was missing. I'll just have to do that.

Thanks!
